REMEDY TOO LATE?

In Kaduna state where I'm based, a lot has been happening. Not just the banditry, kidnapping and network fail. Good things are happening too, like the building of good roads and recently i learned that a few infrastructures are being built. Most people my age are excited about this particular sector because it is about food. I have to admit that Domino's pizza is something I am looking forward to and the Cold Stone ice-cream too. A rumor that Shoprite would also be accessible is circulating too.

Got this picture from WhatsApp

Lands are being recovered by the Kaduna State government to achieve all this at the detriment of most citizens of the state. Demolishing and restructuring is what we have been experiencing through out this year and although i do not support the way this is being done, I have to admit that setting up the state would definitely attract more attention and definitely more business.

Some of the reasons that various businessmen avoid coming to Kaduna is the bad roads and insecurity. The governor promises that he is working towards combating these hindrances through his actions but, is it enough? Isn't is already too late for that?

A lot more harm has been done than good, and like i said in my previous post, most of these last minute things are borne from selfish ambition.

Digging deeper, you'll see where i am coming from. The president had already submitted the proposed budget of 2022 worth N16.39trn. He said that they'll be focusing on the oil sector, security, health, federal expenditure, salaries and pension. Tagged Budget of Economic Recovery and Resilience, the president believes that this would go a long way for Nigeria.

pexels-tope-a-asokere-5789323.jpg

However, this budget also needs "extra" funding of N6.258trn, which also means more borrowing.

The Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Zainab Ahmed notoriously defended that Nigeria would not have left recession if not for borrowing. She also said that Nigeria isn't borrowing above their means and would definitely make ends meet.

I laughed at that part. She used various other underdeveloped countries as comparison, saying that we were the lowest percentage. She mentioned not having a problem with revenue. Huh? Is that so? Then why aren't the citizens seeing this? Why do you keep borrowing? What do you spend these revenues on?

She said the revenues aren't enough which is why borrowing is needed.

Fast forward to October 9th, SERAP (The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project) urged the president to cut the N26 billion Presidency budget for the construction of the presidential wing...local and foreign travels, meals and refreshment...

I can't even go on. If you study this budget you may notice that the Federal government are spending more than they give.

I do not care what Zainab says, borrowing just to fuel their large appetites is unacceptable. Yes, I may be too quick to judge but we in Nigeria know that it is true that nothing may change. In fact, these people just keep eating and claiming that they are working for a better Nigeria.

I would love to hear your opinions concerning this and what you think could probably be done to salvage this current situation. You don't have to be well versed in economics or politics, just read the news and drop your comments.

Before i go, i want to share a picture of this beautiful sunset i experienced yesterday...

It's why I fear the North a lot, there was a time I thought of like moving to the north away from my family in Lagos, but banditry and stuffs deterred me.

.....so why didn't you put a mobile number at the end of the Post Na? I prefer that one hahaha.

The banditry, kidnapping, and a lot of it kinds is not eminent in every part of the North. As long as you understand Hausa a little, you're good to live among the people, same goes with the southwest. Find it tough when you don't understand Yoruba, worst, it's not that easily to understand. I think every part of Nigeria has it danger.

The point is, staying in the North may not be bad, as long as you understand how to live among them.

Nigerian politics and economics is something I have dissociated my self from because no matter how much you read or know, the government will still embezzle and it’s a norm. It’s very sad.

Kaduna has such a bad rep already, I don't think people would like to explore it's potentials even after all the rebranding. So maybe too late.

I don't think I can stay in the north, even staying in Abuja scared me a lot but I do think Nigeria can change but it would take a lot to

Even Abuja?, The only thing you should be scared of in Abuja is those 419 that parade themselves with fake identity. So far, Abuja is the safest town in Nigeria if you do whatever normal people do.

Abuja has one chance, kidnapping, shite protests that lead to killing, among others
Nowhere near the safest

The shite protest usually doesn't cross deidei axis, however, I'll agree that no where is near safest

Omoh. Abj isn't safe ooo. Especially the campus. People i knew where kidnapped. A 300L student killed. Just like we have safe places in Kaduna, the same with Abj. You may happen to be at that corner right now so you have no idea what's going on.

Nigeria would need heavy intervention for that. If you check the profile of the men in the government... Heh! Only God can save us.

The north has its troubles. It's save to say those of us in the other parts of the country especially us in Lagos don't understand the full extent to the banditry and kidnapping going on in the north.

It keeps getting worse, I saw in the news the other day. Community members had to pay bandits to let them farm on their own lands! That's the height of it.

I do hope it gets better and the government consider the people instead of trying to steal more from them

Some say the banditry is a way to generate revenue for the government. I would believe that because, their head is Buhari's second in command. A man known for violence and total brutality. That was how he won elections. He used this man's thirst for religious advocacy to fuel his climb onto power. I wish Nigerians had listened that time a video of him was circulating. Things wouldn't be like this now.

I really hope they implement and keep to their words as for me I don't know what I think about this country again
