THE NEWBIES INITIATIVE: THE RECOUNT OF 2021!

Still seems like yesterday when I joined the Newbies Initiative Program sponsored by @starstrings01, @eddiespino, @projectmamabg, @aliento, @theycallmedan and others. Thank you so much to all the sponsors, I'm deeply grateful and honored to have been chosen by this Initiative.

The Newbies Initiative Program is one of the best (if not the best) Newbies support system on Hive. They have this chain or bond that leads to growth even if you don't plan for it. Before I came onto Hive, I had no idea about goal setting, planning or even consistency. In fact, one of my major fears while joining Hive was loosing interest. I have a short attention span and at a moment, that habit nearly kicked in but I didn't let it.

In my first ever task to the Newbies Initiative, I had no idea what goals were so I didn't set them. I just formulated some mumbo jumbo and put there but @projectmamabg called me out on it. For that I'm grateful. Apart from not knowing what goals actually were, I had doubts and fears lingering in my mind. So many questions and when I saw fellow Newbies talking about achieving an amount of HP or Reputation by the three months deadline, I felt inadequate. I'm someone who tends to overthink... I overthink a lot. I still do unfortunately.

Then I began to come across various post that held fancy terms and linguistic elegance. It made me feel totally stupid and that was when it dawned on me that I had no idea what I was doing. In fact, I was indeed totally stupid.

So I decided to do something for a change. I wanted to be the person I am in my head. A clever, disciplined girl with clear goals, a thought out plan and vision to sustain it. Making this decision wasn't easy, I had to sacrifice a lot to be on Hive 24/7 and interact with people.

Little by little I began getting the hang of it but still, I had no idea how to set goals. So after the first "wacky" task, I read the post of others including @khaleesii, @martharex, @jaydr and @iskafan. I got to understand what to do and immediately tore out a piece of paper at work. I sat down and jotted down my first ever Phive goals.

1. Gain 100HP

2. Gain 73 followers

3. Make new friends

4. Be consistent with Hive

5. Understand how it works.

If you notice, these goals were just somehow but it was something different for someone who was setting them for the first time. When I had this written down, I knew I needed a plan. I decided to take it all step by step. The first was installing Discord to join the Newbies Discord. When that was achieved, I went ahead to make a detailed plan of my day and make distributions so I could manage my job and Hive too. That very day, I felt like I made one big break.

I achieved my goals and more. I had my first ever crypto transaction making me love Hive all the more. I met some amazing people and even if we are not as close or tight, we know the other is there. I do hope to meet them someday. I have over 200HP now, I even delegate a small amount sometimes and I have a reputation of 60.

I don't know if The Initiative could have done things differently but whatever it was they did worked charms. To me, they are doing an awesome job and should keep at it.

To the incoming Newbies, I'd give you a few words. Be consistent, be creative, be productive. Be patient, be grateful, be humble. Most importantly, be annoying. Don't spam, don't plagiarise, don't abuse. But be annoying. In what sense? Comment, upvote, re-hive. Don't be silent. Ask questions, be willing to learn, be open to suggestions and be objective.

Have a problem? Reach out. Don't think you can make it on hive by yourself. Just like every other financial undertaking, you actually need people. Be passionate. Be thoughtful. Be a star!

My 2022 goals are very simple. For some reason, I don't like talking about them. I hope you understand. Goals are something I've personalized and don't want to share with anyone, but I would definitely shift in my level on Hive.
