Your Attitude Has A Lot To Do With It.

Introduction

I think for a person to change, really change and pull out the best inside of them, they need to first work on attitude.

The oxford dictionary defines attitude as,

a settled way of thinking or feeling about something.

I'd like to think that attitude stems from experiences. Maybe childhood, adolescence or even in a parking lot. A lot of things come together to make the human soul and model it. A man's attitude all depends on what he feeds his soul.

I was thinking a lot about attitude today. Trying to go back and pinpoint when exactly I became who I am today, not the naive delusional girl I was. I saw inevitably, that different things came together to birth my change. A lot of stimulus rubbing together as one and causing friction. Friction that wasn't really nice on the heart.

So in this walk of life, why do we need the right attitude? What is so important about imbibing the right attitude?

Attitude is everything.

Attitude is your invisible chain to the fruits of life. Attitude is the loudest where the voice is weak. Your attitude determines who you associate with, your position in life, what you believe in and who you are. A man with zest for life can hardly be seen with one who is always bitter.

I woke yesterday morning, excited to get about my normal day. I was tired but that would change. I hate being idle. When I'm doing nothing, trust me, I'm making bad decisions.

So I woke up and you know, tried to navigate my day the way I know best. Then I encountered a problem that had only two solutions at the time. I'd gone online to vent to my very loyal friend and some others who helped feed me the morale I needed to get on with what I needed to do.

When I'd finally gone ahead to do what is best, I felt relief. There was pain but also relief. But later on, at night when I was relaxed on the couch sipping coffee, I realized that there was a better solution. It clicked!

What I am trying to show here is, sometimes all you need to do is remain positive.

Detoxify first - Do not worry.

Those days when we'd hit that breaking point, it would seem like we are caught between a rock and a hard place. Today, while reflecting on what happened yesterday, I came to the mind boggling revelation that there would always be a solution. There is always a way out despite how dark it seems. The problem is, we may not be maintaining the right attitude.

See, the mind works only when it can breathe. When worry and negative thoughts cluster the mind, it often leads to frustration when we try to think. Someone with the wrong attitude towards life would lash out, complain, blame everyone around them. I say they suffer from 'entitled-mania'. Rather than stopping to observe and reach a conclusion for a possible solution, they look for who'd bear the blame.

The Solution is almost always one breath away

When a person possesses the right mindset (attitude), they take the whole thing in stride. At this junction, I want to applaud myself. I paced about for thirty minutes, anxious and stressed about what to do. When I was presented with a possible solution, it was a really hard one. One that made me shed a tear or two.

This was when it hit me that I was beginning to worry too much. I was trying to control every thing around me which is not always possible. So I let go. Same night, while I just enjoyed coffee and music, it came to me. Better solutions with much better outcomes. I took it and acted on it.

Reader, if you would ever leave that cage or be more than what you are now, you need to understand that the right attitude is key. I will leave you an article below that explains better.

How do I come up with the right attitude?

  • Do not be quick to react. Take a deep breath and think.
  • Do not worry. Take a break, go for a walk. Yes, it could be an emergency but what good is a clustered mind? Clear your mind.
  • Read books and listen to audio tapes. The right kind of music helps too.
  • Drop the entitlement mentality. No one owes you anything. The only person responsible for your life is you.

This is just how to get started. I'd stop here for now. I may continue this some other day in the week or I may not. Overall, Reader, do not worry.

Greetings, I believe that we must have positive thinking in order to solve the problems we face, and faith in God to solve any problem. As he says everything has a solution except death.

Thank you for this !LADY.

Reminds me a lot about how things changed the moment we shifted our mindset and attitude then let go instead of always trying to be in control of everything.

In my case I am still "learning" to not react to negative situations, must be my Latin blood 😄. That magic button of switching off a negative reaction caused by a negative action still eludes me but I'm getting there. Loved reading your view on this subject, it gave a lot to thinks about. 😉😊
