Newcastle and the Investment Fund .. Indicators of failure or construction of a different type?

English club Newcastle United are close to sealing a new deal under the takeover and control of the Saudi Investment Fund, but who is the last Newcastle entrant?

Not Neymar, Ousmane Dembele, Kylian Mbappe or even Gareth Bale, as some wished, but Sven Potman, a French Lille defender, for whom the team's fans are limited to videos they saw after hearing news of their club's association with him.

The Dutchman is regarded as one of the most important defensive talents in the Ligue 1, costing the club's coffers 37 million euros, but a deal that could have been done even before the arrival of the investment fund.

The current situation is worrying fans, because all the talk about the huge project that will inspire the Premier League has not yet shown any clear indications.

Mostly regular deals, only Bruno Gemaraich has highlighted, has management collided with the difficult reality in England? Or is it a different type of construction?

Just dreams

Since completing the deal to sell former club owner Mike Ashley last October for £300 million, talk has not stopped of an upcoming revolution that will end Manchester City's and Liverpool's control, and will completely remove Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham.

Rumours of entering and negotiating with Ousmane Dimibley and Gareth Bale and reaching Mbappe, exploiting the deluge of money that will be pumped into the club's treasury after entering the investment fund at full strength.

The club already spent 102 million Euro last January on 4 deals during the last winter transfer window, which helped the team avoid relegation with then new manager Eddie Howe and achieve very good results by the end of the season.

But these deals proved that they would not take Newcastle any further than this ambition, because only Gemaraich, who had been the focus of Europe's top players before, such as Arsenal and Juventus, succeeded.

The stranger deal was Chris Wood, for whom the club paid 30 million euros, only two goals in 16 games for the former Burnley striker.

Kieran Trippier has emerged at a good level, but will not benefit the team in the long run because he will soon be 32, and Dan Byrne from Brighton does not rise to an ambitious team dreaming of crowding adults.

This puts us in front of the fact that the money spent was mostly wasted on players who cannot contribute to any future goals different from just staying in the Premier League.

Mercato Unsuspecting

A state of anticipation prevailed in the English atmosphere with the start of the summer transfer window towards Newcastle's activity precisely because of the huge financial strength of the investment fund.

However, the club only signed Matt Targett, Nick Pope and Potman, who is awaiting official announcement of his accession to Newcastle.

We would like to reiterate that these deals could have been made at any time even before the arrival of Saudi investment, so that the chances escalate that everything said was just dreams that would be difficult to achieve.

Newcastle have not been able to attract the big stars yet, perhaps because their coach is Eddie Howe, who does not have enough successes to persuade players from the front row to come to the club, where his success is limited to Bournemouth, who stepped him up for the Premier League before landing with him as well.

The English club may also have had to sign an experienced sporting director, who can draw the new project according to his own vision and experience in contracting and persuade players to join his club.

If Newcastle had wanted to compete with the big guys, they would have gone to the same places they shop, competing with Manchester City and Liverpool for their main deals to send a message to everyone that Newcastle is actually coming and hard on the scene.

But the English club's management has failed to change the reality so far, succumbing to the superiority of the adults and not even trying to keep them up on a single deal so far this summer, with no indications of that happening.

It is understandable that the club is unable to pump out massive sums now, due to fair financial play rules, and that the club's popularity is marketably limited and does not earn comparable profits for adults, but this does not prevent some smart deals especially with the availability of many players free of charge, most notably Ousmane Dembele,Here comes the sporting director's role in capturing talent in a timely manner.

Learn from Gerrard

If we look at Aston Villa Market currently since January and even in the current Americas without knowing the name of the club, we will think that it is Newcastle who make these deals and not Villa under their coach Steven Gerrard.

Philippe Coutinho is a former Barcelona star who found himself back in Villa, and Sevilla's signature defender Diego Carlos and Marseille star Popacar Camara are the names Newcastle should have gone behind.

Work is still ongoing in Villa, negotiating with Liverpool defender Joe Gomez, so why not shop Newcastle in such places?

Chelsea are the fastest model of success in the Premier League after the transfer of ownership, with the Blues securing the Premier League in 2004 shortly after Roman Abramovich's arrival, but this is difficult to repeat.

The Manchester City model has been less fast and is the easiest to apply now, with the team returning to tournaments in 2011 with the FA Cup title before winning the league in 2012, which is a while away from the club's UAE takeover date in 2008.

But before reaching the podiums again, City built the team with deals of Rubinho's quality, Emmanuel Adebayor, kolo Touré, Samir Nasri, Nigel de Jong, Carlos Tevez, Yaya Touré and David Silva among others.

Which is what Newcastle must do now to build gradually, with a combination of smart deals and attracting stars or even from big players whose luster has dropped to give them the chance again.

There are many names to which this qualification applies, such as Arsenal winger Nicolas Pepe, late Gareth Bale for Real Madrid, Manchester United star Edinson Cavani and teammate Marcus Rashford.

Or other commonly available names such as Dembele, Houssem Aouar, Angel Di Maria, James Ward Brauss, Thorgan Hazard, Raheem Sterling ,Rafinha, Yuri Telemans and others.

The opportunity still exists, but if Newcastle really want to flatter adults, it must start from now to prove that their fans' dreams are not illusions but achievable projects, because the current activity heralds only a team whose utmost ambition is to participate in the European Conference League or stay in the middle of the table.

They are rebuilding and buying big names is not the solution as it rarely works. The manger Eddie Howe is growing the squad and is a 5 year plan. Look at the results since he took over and they will be in the top 6 this year. Clubs like Man U go for name players and look where that got them. They are cherry picking players who will add value to the squad and depth. Maybe there will be one or two more signings still happening but expect no big names. Next year yes but not now as they are not ready for that.

Yes, Eddie Howe's results are great since he joined the team, this is undoubtedly, the competition this season will be more intense, one or two smart deals for two big names to increase the quality of the team will be useful in big and difficult matches, especially and building the team around them.

Yes but we have to remember just because you have the funds it doesn't mean you have to buy the big names. Eddie Howe was at Bournemouth with no funds and performed miracles. This has to be a 3-5 year plan as this was a start from scratch team and they will get there by doing this.

These big names do not have to come with huge amounts of money, Philip Coutinho, as an example, and it will be a strong boost to the project, the important thing is that it be a smart deal that benefits the team at all levels and takes into account the clean financial playing law

Newscastle is in a rebranding phrase, trying to sign players who might not be so big but could add value that would eventually lead them into better position and ranks to attract bigger ones soon..They have the capacity to spend

There are many players, including those whose contracts have expired, and players whose brilliance has diminished, can be contracted, and it will not be financially costly deals. The season is long and needs players of this quality.

My thoughts are the same as yours, by now I expected Newcastle to compete aggressively in the transfer window but nothing has happened so far, what is the wait, they got the big cash.

The current activity does not bode well for competing deals

One of the differences that Newcastle now has to contend with is FFP, Financial Fair Play. City and Chelsea had the luxury of not having to contend with such rules and their behaviours actually set the tone for that

Newcastle have the financial ability to make one or two deals of the required level without harming the financial side of the team,
