Hello, friends especially foodies!

Last Thursday I accompanied mom to meet her internist for her monthly control, and we then went to the nearest shopping center not far from there. We didn’t have any choice because although modest, it was the nearest one we could reach.

On their 2nd floor, there was a food court… And after we saw around, not many stalls that were available, because mostly closed permanently since the pandemic so… we went to the largest and which had the most many menus.

And here how the stall looked

It had so many menus as you could see they put some photos of their dishes menu on their stall. I told that this stall had like 1001 dishes of menu provided….. Never found any like this before! Supposed to be named 1001 menus restaurant, LOL.

Some of the menu that I captured that day..

They had mostly Indonesian dishes like gudeg, pecel , spicy roasted chicken, smashed green chilli chicken, satanic chilli paste smashed chicken, sour spicy chicken, black pepper chicken, rica-rica chicken, smashed fish, spicy flour shrimp, padangnese sauce shrimp, padangnese squid, stirred veggies, shrimp paste water spinach, stirred beansprout, and so many other food dishes. This I only wrote a bit of them.

Like you could see on their banner, even they had some food menu with only 18K IDR price (only around 1.2 USD) like Javanese fried rice, Javanese fried noodle, and some others……………. What an affordable price!

For the desserts they also had many kind of iced there like black grassjelly iced, green grassjelly, cendol (sold out), lemon tea, or orange with only 10K IDR price (around 0.67 USD) and other complicated iced like mixed ice, orange coconut, brown sugar young coconut, young coconut, or teller iced, they sold with 15K IDR price, more expensive than the simple ones. They also sold juice and some other drinks too.

There we needed to order first, then they would prepare and didn’t ask for the money first (payment after eating). While they were preparing our food, I took some photos of the dining area there.

It was modest, old, air conditionered (not cold one), and also clean enough.

The food that came first was our side veggie, water spinach, then the desserts we ordered, black grassjelly iced and green grassjelly iced.. Mom’s Javanese fried noodle came first then finally my Jogja Nyemek Noodle also came. Here how our dinner looked that day…

And now let me tell you how did they taste one by one,

I would like to start from mine..

JOGJA NYEMEK NOODLE

20220802_082049.jpg

Nyemek means stirred wet, so it had a bit soup. This noodle had many flavour, it had sweet, savory and spicy flavour. The noodle was perfect and soft. It had some toppings such as veggie, egg, sausage, and also meatballs. The authentic thing was it also had small slices green tomato (brought special flavour to the dish). It served hot, so you could imagine how tasty it was, the best one I ever had!

And if you like pickles, they gave the tasty crunch sour sweet pickles on the top.

JAVANESE FRIED NOODLE

The fried noodle had non greasy soft texture with sweet, savory and a bit spicy flavour. It also had the same toppings with mine, such as veggies, egg, sausage and meatballs. The noodle was perfect and mom really loved it much, I mean yes after I tried it, this one of the best we ever had!

** STIRRED WATER SPINACH**

Even it looked spicy with those sliced chillies, it only had a bit spicy flavour. The texture of the water spinach were soft because they were young. This dish had a complete flavour of savory, sweet and a bit spicy. It stirred with sliced chilli and also tomato, I also met the green tomato in this dish, I thought it made the flavour better. We loved this dish too!

And now their dessert (we had had it half before the dishes we had)

20220802_080607.jpg

On the first row was mom’s it was their GREEN GRASSJELLY ICED, while the second row was mine, it was BLACK GRASSJELLY ICED

Mom said it wasn’t fresh anymore, cause the texture was more soft than it is usually. It served with instant coconut milk which mom tasted had bad smell (i also felt that the fresh one is better). It had sweet with a bit savory flavour.

On the other hand with mom’s, my black grass jelly iced was so fresh.. It had soft chewy texture, only syrup as the soup. It tasted sweet and so fresh. I loved it because it had no coconut milk at all. Hmmh yummy ! this one is a gem too!

With 4 gems we found there we only needed to pay 66K IDR or just around 4.44 USD we had the perfect dinner, we found some gems in the desert!

Stirred water spinach is an incredibly popular street food and a daily lunch in Cambodia, I am glad to know this also exists in Indonesia menu too. We usually serve it with rice and it really goes well together. I actually like it a lots as my mom often cooked for family meal. Thanks for sharing such a detail and interesting restaurant dear, I hope to see more of your blog.

Thank you

So glad you like it :)

And good thing to know we have the same eating tradition, as we both live in south east asia.
