Have you tried Cow’s Colon?
Hello, friends especially foodies!
Last Saturday after had accompanied mom to meet her internist for her monthly consultation, mom and I decided to go to a famous plaza which was located on South Jakarta. Arrived there we were starving, although it was just around 11 am something so we decided to find a restaurant where we could have our lunch, and we met an Indonesian Padangnese (from Kapau) restaurant on the LG floor, not far from the supermarket there.
THE OUTLOOK of THE RESTAURANT
The restaurant looked modern from the outside, it had some menu banners at front, which showed their package menus… For us the menu was quite interesting!
THE MENU & THE LOOK
So we walked in to the restaurant, the unique thing here they showed their dishes on the showing case like this.. and they also made all warm by putting the fire under their cauldrons.. it made the dishes stay warm. All looked so yummy, right?
Take a look closer,
They had various kind of dishes here, they had various gulai from squid, fish eggs, gajebo (all kind of cow’s meat), authentic tambusu (cow’s colon with the steamed egg filling, interesting and I had never tasted this dish before), egg, and fish. Here they also had beef jerk, egg barendo (crispy fried egg), beef rendang, chicken (fried, grilled and also in gulai), perkedel (Potato fritter), bilis fish and other dishes.
You could choose the dishes or asked them to put it in the package, both mom and I thought that packages would be better so we chose their combos!
THE DINING AREA
Anyway here dining area was large, clean and neat. It also had esthetic batik tables too. With the bright lamp here, a cozy place to dine in!

THE FOOD & THE OUTLOOK
Not a long time after we had ordered, our beverages came (hot tea, which was included in the package we had ordered), then the rice packages.. Mom ordered the beef rendang package, while me, I tried their authentic cow’s colon (tambusu) package. Here they were
Our plates include our main menu (mom's rendang, and me cow's colon), rice, some vegetables like cabbage and also jackfruit cooked in coconut, green chilli paste and also the crunchy potato with rendang spice.
And later while we were enjoying our brunch, the side dishes came, the one we ordered potato fritter, while the other two were barendo egg, which were included in our barendo packages.
Here the food that we had that day
THE TASTE & THE FLAVOUR
Here in my country, Indonesia, if you don’t know what dishes you choose, I recommend you to come to Padangnese (or Kapau) cause they usually only sell delicious or even better food, usually no Padangnese food which is not delicious.. so now let me share about the taste & the flavour of the dishes here..
BEEF RENDANG
Their beef rendang was soft, had authentic spices and tasted savory and sweet. As the package came with the cabbage and also jackfruit cooked in coconut (vegetable gulai) which tasted light. Also came with crunchy potato in rendang spices, it had savory flavour and sooo crunchy. Plus tasty spicy savory green chilli paste.
LAMBUSU – COW’S COLON WITH STEAMED EGG FILLING COOKED IN GULAI (COCONUT) SOUP
It was their authentic menu, the colon was outside, it had chewy medium softness texture, tasted savory with savory egg steam inside. It was my first time trying this menu cause I hadn’t found any other restaurants which sold this menu, so you need to try it! And like beef rendang, the package came with the cabbage and jackfruit cooked in coconut (vegetable gulai) which tasted light, crunchy potato in rendang spices which was crunchy and savory. Plus tasty spicy savory green chilli paste which I said not enough spicy :9. I finished all the green chilli paste but for me it didn’t spicy at all.
SIDE DISHES:
PERKEDEL (POTATO FRITTER) and EGG BARENDO
They had super tasty in savory pure potato perkedel… it also had chicken’s gizzard inside. And about their egg barendo, it was super tasty in crispy soft texture. It tasted so good in savory and also you must try this menu too!
THE PRICE & THE SERVICE
We paid 118,500 IDR or around 8.3 USD for the brunch and also the hot tea.. Here they served with their hearts without any service charge.
So why don’t you come and also try their cow’s colon too?

What, no dessert? Hehe. I've never tried cow colon before. I imagine it's quite chewy, like other animal intestines. That jackfruit cooked in coconut sounds delicious!
Yes no dessert there..
Yes it was chewy and soft. And you must try indonesian jackfruits cooked in coconut milk..
