When East Met West in Social House! – A Casual Fine Dining Experience Review

Hello, friends especially foodies!

Last Saturday afternoon, I had a nice lunch with my bestie, and this time we had the opportunity to have our lunch in a high class restaurant which had the concept of a restaurant, bar and wine post all in one place. Although it sold wine, none of us was a drinker so just skip the wine, okay? Anyway, the name of the restaurant was Social House. It also had a branch in Dubai plus it had many international customers.

I took photos outside of the restaurant, their brand board made of wood. I took selfie there too. The board was nice, neat and showed off their brand briefly.

You could see that they had a reception desk to register when you want to enter there. Some waitress would help you to enter this restaurant.

Even from the outside you could see the bottle of their wine collection were on their wooden racks behind which hung on the wall.

When you first entered this restaurant, the waitress would ask you to choose between their smoking or non smoking room. Of course we chose the non smoking one because both of us were not smoking.

Their non smoking dining area we chose were neat, clean and quite large. Again you could see their collection of wine on their wooden racks. I love how they décor their interior cause it was cozy and would make you want to stay longer. I sat in the sofa while my bestie sat on their wooden iron made from chair.

And oh yes there they would be place you in the table based on how many persons that come with you, and they also would write your name plus the maximum time you could leave their restaurant. They would give us two hours to stay there, I thought this time was a quite long time for us to choose menu, eat and also do the chit chat.

For their menu, they had some weekend brunch which only available for weekend and public holiday. This menu consisted of their blowout eggs benedict which was their recommendation (it had S sign next to it) plus it also contained pork, big breakfast royale which contained pork (you also could see the pig sign next to it), loaded Spanish scrambled eggs, crispy curry omlette (for vegetarian) and banana ricotta hotcakes (again, their specialized or recommendation). Also you could get boozy with their special drink mimosa or belini which contained bubbles.

Unique things on their menus where they served East and West menu on separate column, while left was for Asian menus, they had right side for Western menus. Like for the soup and salad, for East menus they had mushroom soup (vegetarian) and sesame chicken salad, while for West menus they had classic Caesar salad and guinoa power bowl (vegetarian). They also had appetizers which they called small plates, for Asian they had fried calamari, Korean fried chicken and yaki gyoza (contained pork), while for Western, they had mushroom skewers (specialized and vegetarian), nachos el loco, hone mustard chicken wings (spicy), and Spanish style garlic butter prawns.

20230318_123110.jpg

Another page of their menu still had two sides of East and West menus. But this time they categorized it as land and sea. You could see that for the Asian or East menus they had chicken teriyaki, green chilli roasted rib, Korean beef barbeque, Balinese paste crispy pork belly, Grilled US Pork Belly, Tongseng Beef wagyu, and betutu chicken. While for the west menu they had much more menus such as charred grilled Harvey scotch rib eye, josper grilled wagyu, wagyu stockyard sirloin bisteca, peri peri chicken, oven roasted barramundi, beer battered fish & chips, creamy mushroom chicken, greek style roast lamb, Memphis style bbw pork spare ribs, crispy skin roasted chicken and salmon steak.

Beside you could also choose one of their social diner all time favorite such as all American cheeseburger, Fillet o‘fish, crispy chicken stack and truffle burger.

On other page, you could see that they served Asian menus like wagyu pho bo, pork belly fried rice, hot stone bimbimbap, ebi xo noodle and seafood fried rice. Also for the western they had choices of Italian menus such as some kind pizzas like salsiccia, carnivore, spicy pepperoni, Quattro formaggi, and buffalo chicken pizza; or even pasta like spaghetti aglio olio, crispy pork belly carbonara, mentaiko spaghetti, truffle mushroom fettuccine, mama’s lasagna, rigatoni guanciale and lenguine vongole.

For the dessert they had apple crumble, tiramisu, and crème caramel. And they also had artisanal cakes which you could buy in slices or in whole parts. They had nutella varhona cake, brown sugar pandan, black forest (rum, yum :9 maybe it would be great), basque style burnt cheesecake, salted brown sugar caramel pie, white forrest, carrot cake, strawberry matcha cake and lemon coconut cake.

For the cake you could see on their glasses chilling showing case.

They had many kind of cocktails and beers which I won’t explain because i am not familiar with any of it.

20230318_123149.jpg

Also they had non alcohol beverages like their some kind of signature mocktails like tamarillo, mango tango, cookie rookie, social colada, tropical affair and kalamansi lemonade. They also had juices, like ultimate detox, immune booster, orange, watermelon, strawberry and mango. They also had tea and blend collection such as homemade grandma ice tea (interesting), flavoured tea, hot tea, green tea latte, brown milk tea, avocado choco, campfire chocolate, nutella milkshake and hazelnut frappe coffee. While they also had some coffee collection which were presented by d'journal with only seven choices of it from espresso, macchiato, long black, cappuccino, caffe latte, caffe mocha and picollo latte. They also sold mineral water, sparkling water, soft drink and green tea bottle.

Alcoholic drinks they had kinda gin, vodka, tequila, mezcal, rum, single malt. And i am also not familiar with all of those drink, haha.

The beverages we had ordered came first, voila, here what they called HOMEMADE GRANDMA ICE TEA.

It contained lemon sorbet, slices of lemon, great flavour of tea, ice cubes and mint leaves. The tea had medium sweetness, it was just right at it's portion of sweetness so we felt like OMG this was exactly what we wanted. The lemon sorbet on the top brought fresh sour flavour to the tea, so did the lemon slices they put in it. Served chilled, had it in the afternoon, really fresh beyond expectation.

Second thing came was their YAKI GYOZA. But we had it when we enjoyed our BURGERS.

20230318_124717.jpg

Now let me tell you about their YAKI GYOZA..

it was Japanese Asian menu we tried there. Their gyoza had quite thick skin with light savory flavour of pork meat inside. It served with savory soy sauce mixed with chilli sauce. The sauce brought savory flavour with a bit spicy flavour. The cabbage salad it served with which was next to the sauce tasted a bit sour from its' sauce and it wasn't tasty. And neither of us told that their YAKI GYOZA were tasty. We only said that it was SO - SO. OMG come on with the price of 90K IDR (almost 6 USD) exclude service charge and tax you supposed to make it better.

My Bestie had TRUFFLE BURGER for her main dish.

20230318_125126.jpg

It contained homemade burger buns, sunny side up, 150 gr char grilled black angus meat patty, gouda cheese, giardiniera and of course truffle mushroom sauce.

20230318_130350.jpg

20230318_125310.jpg

It had so truffle taste with savory flavour. The burger buns were soft, the patty was quite thick but also soft. The size of the burger was not large and it served with crispy potato chips.

Mine came the last, but it came not a long time after my bestie's lunch, mine was FILLET O'FISH.

20230318_125730.jpg

It actually contained crispy battered fish, tartare sauce, pickled onions, homemade burger buns, and also potato chips. It had red cabbage to in it. The crispy battered fish had savory flavour, inside was soft fish meat while outside was crispy and soft. With tartar sauce, it had a bit sour flavour to make it fresh. Anyway the burger buns were also soft. And i thought this burger was kind of fish n chips with burger buns, lol. Okay this was quite tasty... i thought they were better in serving western food than the eastern one, gyoza was not better than their burger. Hmmh.

Here were our lunchie, how do you think of its' look?

20230318_125246.jpg

There the price of food and beverages were not cheap, plus from the original places there would be an additional of service charge with 10% rate then 10% of tax. So lucky that we got 20% off by joining their member. Final price we paid 450,120 IDR or around 29.32 USD, a quite high price, yes but you paid what you got, this place had high quality food, clean neat great dining area, and great service.
