FITNESS FRIDAYS: The Plank Challenge

Hello everyone, welcome to my FITNESS FRIDAYS post here.

It's been two weeks since I have posted my last #fitness-fridays post. Last time was about looking for a new shoes for replacement.

This is my shoes for replacement. The design similar one, ok , lets compare this one with the old one.

the old one, worn out

the replacement

yaa, both are Skechers. I love Skechers because it feels soft and comfortable to wear them. But this doesn't mean I buy Skechers as the new one. My saga in looking for the shoes did not success. I did find some good shoes, but the price... they did not fit my wallet.

This pair of skechers are not a new shoes. It came from years ago. That time I had a girlfriend who bought that shoes for me. then few months later we broke up, and it's not a nice thing to keep using stuffs from your Ex 🤣 , so I sent those shoes to be buried in my storage room. I found them last week.

It's a dual lite Sketchers, which is said a multipurpose training shoes. Actually this is not a multipurpose, there isn't such thing. This shoes is good for HIIT training and short running. Anyway multipurpose shoes is like a jack of all traits, can do many things but not optimum for any of them. You can run with them but not as good as running shoes and you can jump side to side with these but not as good as gym shoes.

old running shoes

In my storage room, I found my old Adidas Lite Runner M. It's my shoes from 9 years ago. It's full of dust, I have cleaned it several time and it still look a bit old. I used it a couple times and it's still good but I don't think it will survive for more than 4 months. That's how old shoes work, they have limited durability due to age.

The reason I put my Lite Runner to storage room because in past... I was kind of blaming these shoes over an injury. It was in 2015, I took a 10k event. I really wanted to break my best time that time, breaking below 55 minutes for 10k.

I wore this new shoes, and the start was excellent. Everything were going on my plan. I could run faster than my expectation, when I passed the 5km post, I saw the timer was still 25minutes and I had not even losing any breath and stamina.

To put it even better, I was getting into the zone. It's like a condition which you did not think to much about anything and you were of losing track of everything including time. I kept speeding up, I bet that time I was already at 4,xx minutes/km running speed.

1 km before the finish line, I fell... and could not walk anymore. My left plantar got torn. Literally I could not walk for a couple of month, and unable to participate in any of running events for 9 months.

So I blamed the shoes as part of it, and put them in my storage room.

I have decided to wear again these shoes for a few months ahead, let say let them finish their lifespan with me. Damn I am so stingy in avoiding buying any new shoes

THE PLANK CHALLENGE

If you follow @fc-fitness post, you will notice that last week we have Plank Challenge here. Don't worry if you miss this one, you can follow for the next week challenge which is a walking exercise with more information here.

the innitial challenge was like this:

Starting with a 10 second plank, add an additional 10 seconds every day until the end of the week. For example, you’d start with a 10 second plank on April 19th, progress to 20 seconds on April 20th, progress to 30 seconds on April 21st, etc. If you complete the challenge, then you’ll have managed to hold a plank for a total of 280 seconds by the end of the week!

I have a bit different, although I know that would kill the idea of the challenge LoL. so here is what I have done for my challenge for Plank

Day 1 - Cheat Day

I made an entry of 15 seconds of plank. My counter said it was 18seconds, because I could not switch it off instantly.

Day 2 - Another Cheat Day

I made an entry of 20 seconds of plank. My counter said it was 21 seconds

2.jpg

Day 3 - An extra Cheat Day

I made an entry of 25 seconds of plank. My counter said it was 27 seconds

3.jpg

Day 4

I made an entry of 30 seconds of plank. My counter said it was 33 seconds

4.jpg

Day 5

I made an entry of 35 seconds of plank. My counter said it was 38 seconds

5.jpg

Day 6

I made an entry of 40 seconds of plank. My counter said it was 44 seconds

Day 7 - failed

I made an entry of 40 seconds of plank. My counter said it was 44 seconds. It's not about adding 1 more second, I stopped on 42 seconds because my ear was buzzing so I did not want to push my self here.

The Recap

Day# ChallengeStatus
115 seconds0 - cheat day
220 seconds0 - cheat day
325 seconds0 - cheat day
430 seconds+ 5 seconds
535 seconds+ 5 seconds
640 seconds+ 5 seconds
740 secondsfailed, no + 5 seconds

Ok first you might wonder why I say some of them were cheat day. Actually during those period I did not do Plank once a day. Everyday after I wake up, I do plank for 25 seconds. I did these challenge on night before bed time. So if I could do 25 seconds earlier in the morning, doing it later on night with less duration could be considered a cheat.

I still do plank 25 seconds or 30 seconds every morning. Set a count down with alarm, then do the plank. Sometime I do twice. I notice that I could do more, but maybe I am too lazy to spend more time on this. Based on this challenge, I could do 30-35 seconds regularly, and this duration is not something that great. A normal person should be able to do around 120 seconds which this means I am below normal. I admit that, and that's why I do plank regularly because I do not want to get worsen.

Anyway for the last couple day I have a body balance issue, my left ear has not been well and I could not walk normally in straight line. Not as bad as vertigo, but it's more like I am feeling I will get that soon if I do not careful today. That's why I did not push myself to get 45seconds.

As I am writing this, a bunch of cats are fighting outside on my yard and they are making loud sounds. They are lucky I could not run and catch them to punish them due to my current condition

Anyway that's for today #Fitness-Fridays, and I am skipping walking challenge for today due to my body balance issue too, I hope I could do that tomorrow, so there will be only 6 days for next week challenge post however I really hope you guys could join in too

thank you for coming and reading my post here
