Hello Asean Hive Community

I hope you all are feeling well today. I just came out from hospital, hospitalized for two days due to a epidemic cyst removal surgery. It was a good surgery, the recovery was very fast so I could come home in that time. Initially they told me it could go for three to four days if the recovery got slower or they found something else.

So I got out earlier and I wanted to treat my old mom. She was worry too much, well it was understandable regarding her age. So we took her to a restaurant, to give her some nice treat.

She ordered a spaghetti as the appetizer. It was not all for her anyway, she shared it to three plates. I had my brother there, but I did not take any shot of him. Both of us dislike having ourselves taken in some shots.

It was not an original Italian spaghetti that she ordered. It was a Mentai Spaghetti, and honestly I hated the taste. I hated many fusion style of spaghetti, especially to Japanese and other Asian cuisine. But we had that visit for her anyway, so as long she was happy, we were happy too.

So this was her main dish. It was a Pan Roasted Norwegian Salmon. It was a legit Norwegian Salmon, or a fish that sometime called as Salmo Salar or Atlantic Salmon. This is the part of many Indonesian and I think most Asian people get it wrong too. Not all Salmon can be said as Norwegian Salmon, most of them are Trout that are a cheaper version.

I do not want to make this post as a biological class, so I will make it simple. Atlantic Salmon or Norwegian Salmon are wild captive, they grow in wild and captured later. It has better taste, higher Omega 3 and in the past only this one that was qualified as sushi or sashimi material. Trout is the captive breed version.

If you like fish so much, you could differ the taste anyway.

My Steak

This was my order, it was 7.5 USD Ribeye Steak. My brother ordered the same price, 7.5 USD but it was a Sirloin Steak. He preferred Sirloin and I liked Rib eye better than Sirloin. The weight was the same, 200 gram.

We did not eat Steak with rice, although I had to admit many Indonesian still had to get some rice when they ate steak. We had this fries over smashed potato, somehow I did not like smashed potato. As usual, a chili sauce was a mandatory to accompany fries.

There were some differences between my brother and I in having our steak. I prefered to pour over the sauce on the meat, then cut it. My brother preferred to cut them and dipped them into the sauce. He liked black pepper sauce and I liked mushroom sauce. The last difference was how the meat was cooked. I preferred Medium Well, and I could accepted a well done steak, and he preferred a medium rare. He always said that a well done steak as something as overcook.

So now the question is.... Does it worth the price?

Honestly, It's a 50:50. For a less than $8 here you got a 200 gram Australian beef steak, it was a very good deal. The meat quality was very good regarding they were a meat shop and distributor too.

However I prefer to see having a beef steak as something near a fine dining experience. I had several $100 tp $300 steaks before, so compared to them, this was a joke. They did not serve me high quality rolls or breads, I did not get good butter, dessert and others.

But still, maybe I should say it is worth the price. I do not know, what do you think about this? Anyway I will be taking a lot of meat this week, to speed up my recovery. Thanks for stopping by here.

Hi, I like steak because it's very tasty.
I also like pasta because it's delicious, and French fries are very nice.😀
