The Manager Part III - Exploring new places and different ideas

As our life adjusted and gradually changed into new places, so did my project and ideas with the manager. We ended up moving out of my parent's house and away from the freezing winter of the Canadian Rockies and to the mildest climate in all of Canada, Victoria, on Vancouver Island.

While we did end up moving to an incredibly beautiful place, to be honest we never felt like we fitted in there. We were surrounded by natural beauty, and that was very calming, but we still had a very difficult time in that amazing place. We felt very lonely and isolated, having come from such a social place as Spain, and the pandemic was just starting to take hold in Canada at that time, which sure didn't help things. Add to that the fact that we were in a new place with very few friends, and it just felt quite depressing at times.

We did have some really fun times, and we took in the calm, quiet, and cleanliness of the place while we were there. At one point a very close friend of ours came to visit from Denmark, and we took the opportunity to go and explore some very beautiful locations with her.

While we were out I decided to take the opportunity to bring my Manager outfit and camera along, and try to get some cool photos. We drove into an area called East Sooke Park. It's a nature area in Sooke, which was about a 45 minute drive from our house, and there are a lot of beautiful hiking trails, many of which lead to these gorgeous cliffs on the coast.

We hiked out to the cliffs, and I thought it would be cool if I could somehow get a shot that looked like I was kind of on the edge of the world. I set up the camera with the composition I wanted, and asked Sabrina to take a series of shots while I walked out. This one I definitely needed help with because there was a significant little gap between where I was and where the camera was. I needed to hike and climb a bit to get across to where I was.

So once I was across, I got into the position I liked and asked Sabrina to just start taking photos while I walked. We did a couple of takes since I was over there, and I walked in a few different directions, trying out the ideas that I had. There are honestly a few from this session that I like, so I'll include my favourites and let you be the judge.

Something about this one really just speaks to me. I like the way that I'm actually not in focus, but I'm not sure why. It feels like it removes me a little bit from the photo, almost like I'm a side note in this one, and I like it for that.

This was definitely the "standard" shot that I was going for, walking off the edge of the earth, away from the camera, into some strange scened where "The Manager" has no place being.

This shot I really enjoy, I decided to take it in a bit of a different direction and get one of the Manager just enjoying the view. It's a break from the theme of the series in a way, but I still like the image as a stand alone away from the series.

To be honest, I think this one is my favourite of the bunch. I really like the way The Manager's briefcase is lit up and highlighted in the shot. You can clearly see I'm barefoot, but I feel like you have to analyze the photo a bit before you really notice it. I also really love this pose as well. For this shot I actually was adjusting my tie, which you can't see that I'm wearing, but The Manager is always wearing a black skinny tie. I feel like the pose shows that I'm adjusting my tie, even if you can't see it, and that sort of communicates something unconscious to me.

Here is the last one that I really like from this set. I like the movement and the way you can see the briefcase and barefeet in this shot, and I like how here The Manager is walking steadfast away from the beautiful scene behind him. The job comes first. And yes, I am wearing the tie, it was INCREDIBLY windy this day, and the tie was blown completely behind my back whenever I was walking this way.

As with my previous posts I'll be using @reward.app to get liquid rewards from any payout I might get on this post. I'm hoping to make enough rewards in the next little while to get in on the Alpha sale of @holozing, which means I'll be reinvesting all profits here directly back into the Hive ecosystem. If you haven't heard of Holozing yet you can see what it's all about by following the community here: https://peakd.com/c/hive-131131/trending. It's an upcoming web3 game developed by @acidyo that I'm excited to join when it launches. I recommend you check it out, and get ready for the upcoming launch, I'll be getting in on it and you should too!
