The importance of the new generations in Chess / huge organisational work

Today was a different day for me, I usually work in the afternoons and have the mornings free so when there is a chess tournament in which I can participate I always try to get in and have a good time with the guys.

I had seen some publications from the chess federation of my state commenting that a tournament was starting today, so I was excited to go without too many expectations, after all there are very nice people in there and I knew I was going to have a good time no matter what.

Unfortunately when I arrived I realised that this was a tournament for players who were just starting out, but more importantly it was for schoolchildren and children who were just starting to get excited about the sport, so clearly I couldn't play, but I did have time to have a chat in the room with the people in charge and the organisers of this tournament.

I remember in my beginnings that a tournament was always like a kind of invitation to meet people, have a good time with friends I knew there and why not learn from the older ones who have more time on the board, I had not appreciated it then but the work done by the organisers of these tournaments is HUGE.

on the one hand they are getting kids into the sport, kids that in the future can see these spaces in a positive way, I was trained since I was a teenager in these tournaments and I always came out wanting to absorb more knowledge to play better, more openings, more tactics and be better all the time.

I saw many kids with their parents supporting them, it is a very healthy environment that is built from the earliest stages, the conditions of the hall are much better than the ones I had in my years of study, where I had to play outside to avoid dying of heat.

I was very surprised with the work of the federation, which again is an entity that is funded by the boys themselves and the lots of people who continue to gather for this activity, by the way, it was one of those state tournaments that decide who will later represent the nationals.

So even there, there was excitement, lots of good games too, of course they are kids and we can't expect them to play like experts but I saw a good level at the first tables.

Just wanted to share something different that happened to me today, see you Friday for another hivechess.
