The Aftermath

Happy holidays to y'all!

I'm sure you guys are enjoying some of your crypto gains this yuletide season. So. What do you plan to do with your hard-earned stash there? Are you guys gonna "reinvest" in another crypto? Or just continue to HODL? I thank the universe for this life-changing HIVE that we have, and of course, for this great community. Almost 5 years and here we are still, still rocking the crypto space. Anyway, I think it's time for me to enjoy and reinvest some of what I've earned here. I think I deserve it and I'm gonna buy it back so no worries!

Great thing is that I didn't have to rebuild my place, yes, I just went though four days of hell! Big storm came to my region and almost wiped us all. But guess what, I'm still pretty hard to kill. Still going diabolic. Nature is indeed unforgiving. It can wreak havoc anytime and deprived us of all our modern conveniences.

I had no electricity, network coverage, internet connection, running water, for four days. Imagine that! I didn't even have cash because our ATMS were all offline due to that diabolic storm. Good thing I was able to get my free "Xmas Ham" just in time - such a generous gift from my company. It's actually a gift certificate that you can exchange for a big ball of ham. Without the ham, I wouldn't have sandwiches for four days LOL.

I'm sure four days without these major conveniences would be too long for most of you all. But as someone who had been experiencing this terrible wrath of nature since the beginning of my existence here on earth, I've learned to live without these. Remember, diabolika means a survivor and a warrior, I'm no snowflake. Soooo don't ever ever mess with me. Ha ha ha just kidding.

No running water? Go fetch from the nearby well. No network coverage? Go talk to people face to face or give your cat some attention. No internet? Read a book or solve some crossword puzzle. No electricity? Go learn some craft or cook over open fire. No food? Well, thanks for the free ham LOL. Luckily I didn't have to forage. I guess I've trained myself to fast so these unexpected hunger don't make me panic now. I'm not gonna die immediately just because I don't eat enough.

I also get to unleash my creativity when I'm lacking all these modern conveniences. I quickly found out that I must be a cave dweller literally and metaphorically. Mind you, there are so many things to do. It's really up to your imagination.

No cash? Gosh, okay this was the worst thing. So cash, in the end, is still very very much needed unfortunately. Because without electricity, our Cryptos and bankcards are pretty much useless. Back to basics man!

I was contemplating why I have my most of my money in the bank and in my digital wallets and not under my bed. I didn't have enough in times of disaster. So yeah, major lesson learned here.

I was also contemplating during those hellish hours of no power why I even came back to my region. It is so humid, it is so unbearably warm. I began to become grateful for not investing in a tiny home here. I want to be somewhere else in x number of years. I'm still a free spirit.

People didn't even notice my absence at work lol. I'm not sure if I should be glad or not be glad. I just convinced myself that they trust me enough not to check on me every time. Eventually they found out what happened when I went back to work and my bosses were all very sympathetic.

Anyway, I'm alive and well people! So the party continues... I hope you are having a blast wherever you are.

After the storm.

I'm glad the storm didn't wipe you out!
I think about losing power often. We lost power in 2005 for almost a week, and there was black mold growing in our basement(where my room was) by the time power came back.
If the power went out for a long time in Minnesota, we would freeze to death in the winter in houses that have no fireplace... and most houses don't have fireplaces anymore.
We rely too much on electricity...

You'll have a different kind of suffering when you lose power, freezing to death sounds grim.

I realized how much we rely on electricity especially when I couldnt take out cash those stormy days.

Yikes! Glad you survived the carnage. And ham sandwiches sound pretty good with power or without!

Also happy you're enjoying your crypto gains. I can't think of anyone more deserving! I intend to build my balances and HODL until some future point. Likely when it drops to zero... lol

Happy New Year, @diabolika! I hope 2022 treats you well and that you don't suffer from Covid, hurricanes, starvation, bad hams, demon cats, or writer's block in this shiny New Year!

Cheers!
