Contest #180: Dreams fulfilled and to be fulfilled [Concurso #180:Sueños cumplidos y por cumplir]

Hello friends of Damas de la colmena, I am very happy to once again be able to participate in one of the weekly contests. The two topics to be addressed seem excellent to me and very consistent with what is happening now in my country. Enjoy my publication and I hope it helps you learn something new.

1. Do you have a garden? Or do you wish you had one? What would you like to grow in your little paradise?:

Unfortunately at the moment I don't have a garden; but I plan to have it as soon as possible. I have a dirt patio of approximately 4x4 meters. Now I can't plant in it because we are building the house and it is full of materials and waste; In addition, it is not fenced and is free entry for the neighbors' pets and children and it would be difficult to maintain the care of the plants in those conditions. I do not think that my planting project will be completed in less than six months since building in Cuba is very expensive due to the enormous inflation and shortages that we are experiencing. Despite this, I am already taking small steps to be prepared. In container pots that have already reached the end of their useful life, I have seedlings of oregano and cachucha chili and a pot ready to plant mint as soon as possible. The oregano plant was blooming well, but unfortunately a few days ago a fairly strong storm suddenly occurred and hail fell and tore off almost all of the leaves. Fortunately, the only damage I had was that since there were people who lost their homes. As soon as I have the patio ready I am going to transplant these positions and others that I will sow. In addition to these three species, he planned to grow leek garlic, chili pepper, aloe vera, fruit bomb, pumpkin, marpacific, moringa, basil and roses. In this way I take my small step in the food sovereignty that my country needs, in addition to having useful plants for medicinal and cosmetic treatments.

2. Do you like shopping second-hand? Share with us that treasure you found and why it was perfect?:

Some time ago, I think more precisely after the pandemic, the State authorized holding garage sales without having to obtain a license for it. These sales had to be on a specific day of the month and only sell second-hand products. Of course, with how undisciplined the Cuban people are, garage sales became an everyday occurrence and you can find everything. Before, only the State had stores where they sold used clothing. Two years ago I graduated from college and a topic that worried me a lot was what shoes I would wear and by chance I passed by a garage sale and discovered some wonderful used heels. It was a dream come true. I have always wanted to use that model but buying new ones is difficult because they are extremely expensive. I was extremely happy wearing them on my graduation day.

Just in time!
'Food sovereignty' that term I've heard that is now spoken around my circles as government and corporations are trying to control all agriculture in my country putting farms out of business. Sounds like you are eager to get started. Just be patient @dianegr. Lovely shoes. I still have too many shoes, Lol! Thanks for posting! 👠
