Visit to the store at Christmas

Boyeros and Camagüey store entrance

This Saturday, accompanied by my boyfriend @crismr, I visited a store near our house, the so-called Boyeros and Camagüey store, which is one of the most popular here in Havana. We did it with the purpose of seeing the offers that were available at the end of the year and to distract ourselves a little since we haven't gone anywhere in a while. They were quite few.

The prices of the products are in MLC (Freely Convertible Currency), a virtual currency that is obtained by depositing American or Canadian dollars, euros, British pounds, rubles and Mexican pesos on a card. Most Cubans do not have access to these currencies and many have to buy them at a super inflated price on the black market or acquire the MLC through cryptocurrencies. You can also pay with foreign cards such as VISA AND MASTERCARD.

This is a medium-sized market and mainly offers food products, hygiene products and household appliances. Currently a part of the store is under repair, one of the reasons why it has fewer products than on other occasions. I was surprised to see that they were selling turkey that I hadn't seen in years; but it was cut into pieces and not complete as they used to offer it long ago.

Unfortunately this time I couldn't purchase any product because I didn't have MLC, that will be for next time. The cans of rice with meatballs left me intrigued, that is a new product here. As soon as I can I will buy them to try them. THANK YOU FOR READING AND MERRY CHRISTMAS.

All photos were taken by me.

The store was very short of products compared to the previous times we have gone and the oil was absent as always.
