Hitting the Jackpot

A while back, someone made a comment, "There is nothing money can not buy". Another argued that it was not true, "Money can not buy air",he said. I thought in my head money cannot buy air but then since I didn't like arguments I kept quiet.

During my brother's hospital days, three oxygen tanks were bought. Tanks that assisted in giving him "air" and helped him breath so I guess the second person and I were both wrong.
"Money is the base of everything", this statement should have been wrong but unfortunately that is how the world has made it.
I've never understood gambling or making bets but if one day I just happen to place a bet and it turns out to be a jackpot or in better terms, I happen to "Win a lottery", first thing I would do I scream and roll on the ground.

I used to watch "Nigerian film " as I called it where the son would go to the city, make money, return home after some years, tear his parent's house and build them a mansion. That is the first thing I would do but without the whole tearing down drama. I mean I love my home but then I want my parents to have the absolute best. Something I plan to give them.

Next I would pay for the best cooking school. I can cook, at least I know I am good enough that when I eventually get married I won't be thrown out of my husband's house because I put too much salt in the food, so the cooking school would not be for me.
My little brother is the one person I know that can whip up the tastiest food out of the littlest ingredients. He wants to be a chef and I am going to stand behind him one hundred percent.

Knowing I have done something tangible with the money, and some of the people I love most in the world are happy I can finally do something for myself.
First, make investments. I would be a total waste if I eventually won the money and I let it all go down the drain. At this point I will pick my phone up and call my older brother. The conversation will probably go like this...
"Hello, Big Brother"
"What do you want?"
"Must I want something, can't I just call my favorite big brother?"
"I'm your only big brother and you only call me your favorite brother when you need something". At this point I will roll my eyes and take a pause because there was no need. So I'll just tell him what I want. Some of you might be thinking the worst but he really isn't that terrible( or maybe he is lol).

Finally looking back and knowing I have done good things with the money I would look at myself in the mirror and say, "Baby girl it's time for you".
I never have anything to wear even with my hundreds of clothes so I would need to buy some more, then I would take myself out because it's all about self love.
Satisfied with everything I have done, the remaining money will be kept away because I am really good at managing money then closing my eyes at night every day after that would be with a big smile on my face and a peaceful sigh.

When we've satisfied ourselves with the knowledge that we've made all our loved ones happy, the next thing is self gratification, and a little bit of 'me treat'. Cheers to this hope of yours.
I hope I can also be a partaker once the time comes. Lol.😂❤️

This is a fun read, a nice mix between generosity and self care:) It is an honest piece and the voice you use in it is quite congenial. There are humorous touches. For example: cooking school for your brother, not you.

Thank you for sharing this CNF piece with us, @dianelson. We appreciate that you engage with other writers in the community.

Money should be used for more than just personal gain and that it can be more valuable when it used to make a positive impact on the lives of others actually.
