And we welcomed a new baby! Her name is Adiya
Last year, my sister got married and it was a really beautiful union. This year, precisely in the month of September, she welcomed her first child. A beautiful bouncing baby girl and she, in agreement with her husband, named her Adiya which means God's Treasure in Hebrew.
As it's customary in my culture, we took Adiya to church for the first time on Sunday. In our tradition, a baby doesn't go out to functions until he/she is three months old and that's exactly what we did.
It was a really emotional day for us all. Adiya's grandma, uncle and family friend travelled in from their hometown to attend the dedication. Friends, family and well wishers were present.
The occasion began with people voluntarily marching in the parents and the family with music and dance. There was a lot of shouting, praising and merriment. The parents were given an opportunity to give short speeches on the pregnancy journey till childbirth. The experience, their fears and all they're grateful for.
Adiya's grandmum wasn't left out. She expressed her joy about being the latest grandmum and she said she felt previleged to live, give birth to her child, train her and in turn watch her build her own family. She thanked everyone for being so supportive towards her daughter and her husband.
The pastor prayed for baby Adiya and welcomed her to church. We took turns in taking pictures even though the baby was asleep throughout the occasion. After the occasion, we went home for extra entertainment. Foods were served, drinks too and lots of meat.
It was indeed a thing of joy to have a little pretty one added to the family. Women can understand how dangerous pregnancy could be. Oftentimes lives are lost, sometimes miscarriages occur before the end of the pregnancy but she delivered successfully so this was worth celebrating. Enjoy the photo dump!
