Dealing With Low Self Esteem

For a few years, I struggled with severe concerns with my self-worth. It only takes one unfavourable word or attitude to put me in a bad mood. Oftentimes it's not as though anyone had directly said something to me. I would feel bashful and self-conscious right away and start to feel uncomfortable if I were in a small group of people who appeared to be highly stylish and I overheard them speaking to one another.

Even though I don't have confirmation that my assumptions were accurate, it's still unpleasant to presume that I'm the subject of rumours at all times. It was a challenging time, a truly challenging time. Even when someone joked about what they said, I could never completely forget about it. I would be unable to get any rest.

The situation became so severe that I frequently sought validation from others rather than from myself. I was never able to get dressed and feel confident in my appearance. To determine whether or not my dress is appropriate, I'll call the attention of a few other girls. Believe me, if somebody had an unfavourable impression of what I was wearing, I would change out of it right away. Sometimes I would decide against going out simply because someone else thought I looked bad in what I was wearing.

Living like this was very miserable. It's improper for me to consistently convey the impression that others had more charge of my life and affairs more than I actually did. I made the decision that I needed to improve my self-esteem and help myself get out of that predicament.

How did I accomplish this?

I started my own personal counselling process. One where I would list all of my fears, the things that made me upset, and what someone had said or done that had really affected me. I started addressing each one after I had written them down. Is it the way I look physically? Can I do anything about it? I just left it if there was nothing I could do about it. I had to get used to how I looked and reminded myself constantly that this is who I am and that there is nothing wrong with how I appear.

I made the decision to look at myself with my eyes since I had them. When I have plans to go somewhere, I make sure my clothes are clean, I iron them if necessary, and I use body spray and deodorant to give myself a fresh and long lasting scent. That's because I was aware of how important my clothing choices are in enhancing my self-confidence. So I took care of all of my insecurities, both on the inside and out.

I conducted a self assessment of the remarks that annoyed me to determine whether they were the result of my attitude, a bad habit, or a deliberate attempt to lower my status by another person. I started to learn how to adapt. I made sure to avoid contact with those who merely intended to damage me since I am quite sensitive of the attitude I present.

The best form of my self-therapy was the daily positive affirmations. I established a daily ritual of speaking positively to my day, to myself, and to everything I did in order to assist in boosting my confidence. I was determined to not tolerate negativity. .

The good news is that I'm getting better, doing much better than I used to, and I feel really good about myself right now. It's a process, and I know nothing will just change out of the blue. Knowing that everything changes with time, I'll give this time.
