Minimalism In The Workplace

One may wonder, is it possible to practice minimalism at work? Isn't minimalism practiced at home alone? Well, minimalism isn't home based. There are lots of minimalist practices I could introduce at my workplace and below are a few.

Time Management
Time management is a great minimalist practice for work. If we don't work within a time frame it's possible to overwork ourselves or mismanage our time by not being able to finish a task before the deadline so time management is very important.

A To-do List
Having a to-do list is a great minimalist practice. This way we have our day planned out and our activities planned out as well and this can help focus and get things done properly.

Focusing On Current Situations
We know that things happen and sometimes we cannot control certain occurrences. It's normal for one to worry even for things that are yet to happen so focusing on the task at hand, on the present situation is a good practice. Worrying isn't a good thing to do so it's best to shut out other distracting thoughts and focus. This helps in productivity, you have a more productive day at work if you're really focused on all you're doing.

Boundaries
Boundaries are very important in every aspect of our lives including work. At work everyone should have boundaries. I remember when I was working in a nursery school. After assisting in the classroom all day cleaning children's mess, washing, assisting them in writing, I also had to follow the school bus to drop off all the children before going to my house. I was often called to clean offices as well. Since we were two teachers in a classroom with one person being the main teacher and I being the assistant, I had the little cleaning work and attending to the kids in the bus attached to me. One day I was asked to go and clean the school during the weekend and I refused. That wasn't part of my job description, I couldn't be the only one working on weekends when I should be resting. This was me setting a boundary. Declining respectfully an arrangement that was going to be detrimental to my well being.

Lunch Breaks Are Important
Everyone needs a little break and food to keep them up and doing at work. Lunch Breaks are a great way to have this little rest. Take out time to eat while working so you don't get worn out.

These are the few minimalist practices I can introduce at my workplace.

I love the boundary thingy of yours, yeah we should set boundaries on our work and personal life. and the boundaries of doing others' work too.
I once help my co-workers but then when I was gone O realized that they do not give the effort to do my job. since then I refused to help them mmakingthem solve their own problems

Oh dear I thought I was the only one who's boss tried countless times to engage me beyond my job description.
I respectfully refused😂 because it was an extra workload and there is no extra benefit attached to it.

Speaking of lunch breaks
Every one knows me at work place that I don't joke with food and rest, no matter how little it may be.

Mental stress is real and I try as much as possible to make my work and it's environs stress free for me while also being productive at my work

Educating piece you've shared

Chop kiss there💋😂😂

My dear, you get the point. I can't allow anyone stress me beyond necessary because if I die, I'll be forgotten soon and replaced immediately. This is why I do well in drawing the lines.

I'm glad you found my writing educative. Thank you for reading.
