Acha pudding with nut and fruit: a nutritious breakfast.

Hello, hivers, and welcome to Hive Learners Creative Sunday. You know what they say about breakfast being the most important meal of the day. It is important to always eat healthy for our own well-being.

Today I'll be showing us a recipe for one of my favourite breakfasts made from acha (fonio), known as acha pudding.

Acha pudding

Growing up, I did not like pap, custard, or oatmeal. I preferred acha, rice pudding, and tom brown. Recently, I have been trying my best to consume them.

Acha pudding with fruits and nuts is not just a delicious breakfast; it is also very nutritious and has some health benefits.

The acha grain itself contains essential nutrients like calcium, magnesium, iron, and zinc. It is a good source of carbohydrate and also low in cholesterol, making it healthy for consumption. It also contains fibre, which aids in digestion as well as preventing constipation.

Acha pudding, when combined with nuts and fruits, becomes more nourishing and healthy. This combination offers a balanced boost of energy without causing an elevation in the blood sugar level.

Acha grain can be used to prepare a variety of dishes, not just pudding; meals such as gwote, swallow, Gus Gus, kunu, and gwim are all plateau delicacies.

Ingredients

Acha (fonio)
Milk (Hollandia evaporated milk)
Sugar
Peanut
Apple

Note: You are free to use any nut or fruit of your choice.

Procedure

First, you add your clean water to a pot, put it on fire, and allow it to boil.

While waiting for it to boil, wash the acha; this is to remove any dust and sand particles in it.

Once your water starts boiling, pour the washed acha into the boiling water and gently stir it using your wooden spatula or any type you have. Continue to stir at intervals until it becomes semi-thick.
Cover it for a few minutes, and then serve.

Add your milk. Any milk of your choice is fine; it could be powdered or evaporated milk. Stir gently, then add your sugar, and lastly, you can add your nuts and sliced or chopped fruits.

I added peanuts and apples because that was what was available at home.

Hello dear, peace be unto you
I stay on my own and you're finding my trouble, haha this is my favorite pudding expecially with excess milk which we'd definitely shift from our mother's site because she's always against it haha 😂
Thanks for sharing

Acha doesn't sound familiar and at first, I thought you meant garri. This is something I should try, it's completely new to me.

Well done and thanks for sharing this yummy recipe.

It's a grain grown in Plateau state and use for to prepare some of our traditional delicacies, most people don't know about it. But it's one of the grains recommended for diabetic patients.
