MMORPGs are a genre of video games that in 2004-2010 was all the rage, since it is literally a virtual world where you can fight monsters, talk to people, participate in raids and many more things, which at the time was quite innovative and the fact that you can customize your character and do whatever you want in an online world was something awesome!
But there is a MMORPG that characterized and made this genre too popular, a MMORPG that undoubtedly many will remember, as it is quite loved by the gaming community. In this post I will talk about Old School RuneScape (or 2007Scape), a game that marked the childhood of many gamers, without more to say, let's start!

Old School RuneScape | Storyline
First, let's go with a little history:
Old School RuneScape is a backup of a 2007 version of RuneScape 2, a game that was originally released in 2002, this was a game that lasted until RuneScape 3 came out, with RuneScape 2 being replaced by the new version, making many fans upset because Jagex shut down the servers for the previous version (meaning that if fans wanted to play RuneScape, they would have to do so for the new version, which had MOST DIFFERENCES from the previous version).
RuneScape 2 would be unplayable until 2013, where a vote was taken on the official RuneScape website to see if people wanted RuneScape 2 to return again with new updates, maintenance and weekly content. Obviously, the fans voted and in the end RuneScape 2 came back with a new name, being Old School RuneScape, bringing a lot of new and old fans who wanted to play this title.
But... And why do people like this game so much?
Old School RuneScape and Its Great Style
Let's start with its peculiar aesthetics, this game looks incredibly old, but don't be fooled by its graphics, since it is one of the most extensive and fun MMORPGs that currently exist.
The story (Lore) of this game is fascinating and fanciful, you can discover it whenever you want and the dialogues (even if they are in English) are very funny, the game is set in a medieval era where there are dragons, ogres, ghosts, demons and more fantasy creatures, in addition to having many references (such as the Romeo and Juliet mission, one of the first missions you do and that narrates the last acts of this literary work, but set in RuneScape)
Going to the musical side, this game has a FASCINATING Soundtrack, at no time does it become tired and repetitive, since in the game you have many places you can go and the soundtrack changes when you change location, here is one of my songs favourites.
All this makes the atmosphere very retro and at the same time with touches of fantasy and absurd comedy, because yes, in this game you can be kicked by a cow if you want (XD?)
But will the gameplay be just as good?
Various Ways to Entertain Yourself and Do What You Want!
In Old School Runescape you have so many things to do! Since the game is not just about battling monsters, there are many more mechanics:
Let's start with the skills system: here as in any game there is a skills system, only here it's a little different, because the skills don't define you, why don't they define you, DigitalDicast? Well that's it , there are no predetermined classes in the game! You can be whatever you want to be and it is something very fantastic, since you can be a mage, in 3 seconds an archer and immediately be a knight, something very crazy indeed.
In the skills you have mining, blacksmithing, fishing, hunting, woodcutting, farming, attack, strength, defense, magic, construction, and many more skills! (there are too many really)
Apart from the skills, you can venture into the dungeons, do the quests, dailies, you can work to earn more gold in the game (collect resources and sell them on the in-game market), you can have a pet, you can become in mono, you can have your own house, you can do PVP, clan war, practice skills, teleport anywhere with magic (in fact, you can teleport with the cow kicking you XD), you can collect all the emotes and a great etc. of things you can do!
Old School Runescape And Its Great Compatibility
THIS GAME CAN BE PLAYED IN A TOASTER! This game is very interesting in the technical part, since, despite its simple graphics and mechanics, it has a lot of content and it is impressive how it can run on any machine, in addition that it also has its mobile version, which is also very light and has almost no requirements.
This game has third party launchers as well, which bring very interesting plugins that can help you while playing (as well as aesthetic plugins) like themes, changing cursors, area markers, quest's helpers and even an HD version! All this thanks to third-party clients that, although they are not official, are allowed by Jagex to a certain extent.
Disadvantages Of The Game
Now let's move on to the disadvantages of the game, which are:
1. It is only in English: the game is only in English, this English in the game is basic, but some people will not like it at all, since it is not in their language, something that undoubtedly means that not many people will they want to play
2. Game graphics: despite the fact that the game has a lot of content and many things to do, some are guided by only the graphics of a game, having to go to other games such as World of Warcraft, a fairly famous game as well. And although the graphics of this can be improved with third-party plugins, not many know this and prefer the easy way.
3. You have to pay to play the full game: And last but not least (actually the biggest downside), you have to pay monthly to be able to play this game at its best, because when you start you don't have all the skills unlocked, you don't have the home system, you don't have all the missions to play (just a few) and you don't have all the armor available, forcing you to pay the $12 monthly to be able to enjoy this game.
Conclusion
Now, should you play this game? The answer is up to you, but if you want to play something different than usual and you are passionate about MMORPGs, you should play this game, at least to try it, since it has many things with which you can entertain yourself, without forgetting that it is constantly updated, making it impossible to get bored.

Primero, vayamos con un poco de historia:
Old School RuneScape es un backup de una versión del 2007 de RuneScape 2, un juego que se lanzó originalmente en 2002, este fue un juego que duró hasta que salió RuneScape 3, siendo RuneScape 2 reemplazado por la nueva versión, haciendo que muchos fans se molesten porque Jagex cerró los servidores de la anterior versión (o sea que si los fans querían jugar RuneScape, tendrían que hacerlo por la nueva versión, el cual tenía MUCHÍSIMAS DIFERENCIAS respecto a la versión anterior)
RuneScape 2 sería injugable hasta 2013, en donde se hizo una votación en la web oficial de RuneScape para ver si la gente quería que regresara otra vez RuneScape 2 con nuevas actualizaciones, mantenimientos y contenido semanal. Obviamente, los fans votaron y al final RuneScape 2 volvió con un nuevo nombre, siendo Old School RuneScape, trayendo un montón de fans nuevos y viejos que querían jugar este título.
Pero... ¿Y por qué a la gente le gusta tanto este juego?
Old School RuneScape y Su Gran Estilo
Empecemos por su peculiar estética, este juego se ve increíblemente antiguo, pero que no te engañe sus gráficos, ya que es uno de los MMORPG más extensos y divertidos que existen actualmente.
La historia (Lore) de este juego es fascinante y fantasiosa, puedes descubrirla cuando quieras y los diálogos (aunque estén en inglés) son muy divertidos, el juego se encuentra en una época medieval en donde existen los dragones, ogros, fantasmas, demonios y más criaturas fantasiosas, además de que tiene muchas referencias (como por ejemplo la misión de Romeo y Julieta, una de las primeras misiones que haces y que narra los últimos actos de esta obra literaria, pero ambientada en RuneScape)
Yéndonos al lado musical, este juego tiene un Soundtrack FASCINANTE, en ningún momento se vuelve cansado y repetitivo, ya que en el juego tienes muchísimos lugares a los que puedes ir y el soundtrack cambia cuando cambias de ubicación, aquí les dejo una de mis canciones favoritas.
Todo esto hace que el ambiente sea muy retro y a la vez con toques de fantasía y comedia absurda, porque si, en este juego te puede patear una vaca si es que lo deseas (¿XD?)
Pero, ¿el gameplay será igual de bueno?
¡Varias Maneras de Entretenerte Y Hacer Lo Que Quieras!
¡En Old School Runescape tienes muchísimas cosas por hacer! Ya que el juego no solo se enfrasca en batallar contra monstruos, hay muchas mecánicas más:
Empecemos con el sistema de habilidades: aquí como en cualquier juego hay un sistema de habilidades, solo que aquí es un poco diferente, porque las habilidades no te definen, ¿cómo que no te definen, DigitalDicast? Pues eso, ¡en el juego no existen las clases predeterminadas! Puedes ser lo que quieres ser y es algo muy fantástico, ya que puedes ser mago, en 3 segundos un arquero y enseguida ser un caballero, algo muy loco la verdad.
En las habilidades tienes la minería, la herrería, la pesca, la cacería, la tala de madera, el farming, el ataque, la fuerza, la defensa, la magia, la construcción, ¡y muchas habilidades más! (son demasiadas de verdad)
Aparte de las habilidades, puedes aventurarte en las mazmorras, hacer las misiones, las "dailies", puedes trabajar para ganar más oro en el juego (recolectar recursos y venderlos en el mercado del juego), puedes tener una mascota, puedes convertirte en mono, puedes tener tu propia casa, puedes hacer PVP, guerra de clanes, practicar las habilidades, teletransportarte a cualquier lugar con magia (de hecho, te puedes teletransportar con la vaca pateándote XD), puedes coleccionar todos los emotes ¡y un gran etc. de cosas que puedes hacer!
Old School Runescape Y Su Gran Compatibilidad
¡ESTE JUEGO SE PUEDE JUGAR EN UNA TOSTADORA! Este juego en la parte técnica es muy interesante, puesto que, a pesar de sus gráficos y mecánicas simples, tiene muchísimo contenido y es impresionante como puede correr en cualquier máquina, además de que también tiene su versión de celular, la cual también es muy liviana y no pide casi ningún requisito.
Este juego tiene launchers de terceros también, los cuales traen plugins muy interesantes que te pueden ayudar al jugar (así como plugins estéticos) como temas, cambio de cursores, marcador de zonas, quest's helpers ¡y hasta una versión HD! Todo esto gracias a los clientes de terceros que si bien no son oficiales, sí que son permitidos por Jagex hasta cierto punto.
Desventajas Del Juego
ahora pasemos a las desventajas del juego, las cuales son:
1. Está solo en inglés: el juego está solamente en inglés, este inglés en el juego es básico, pero para algunas personas no les gustará del todo, puesto que no está en su idioma, algo que sin duda alguna hace que no muchos lo quieran jugar.
2. Gráficos del juego: pese a que el juego tenga mucho contenido y bastantes cosas que hacer, algunos se guían por solo los gráficos de un juego, teniendo que ir a otros juegos como por ejemplo World of Warcraft, un juego bastante famoso también. Y si bien, los gráficos de este se pueden mejorar con plugins de terceros, no muchos saben esto y prefieren mejor el camino facil.
3. Tienes que pagar para jugar el juego completo: Y por último, pero no menos importante (de hecho, es la desventaja más importante), tienes que pagar mensualmente para poder jugar este juego a su máximo esplendor, debido a que cuando empiezas no tienes todas las habilidades desbloqueadas, no tienes el sistema de casa, no tienes todas las misiones para jugar (solo unas cuantas) y no tienes todas las armaduras disponibles, obligándote a pagar los 12 $ mensuales para poder disfrutar este juego.
Conclusión
Ahora, ¿deberías de jugar este juego? La respuesta depende de ti, pero si quieres jugar algo diferente a lo usual y te apasionan los MMORPG, deberías de jugar este juego, al menos para probarlo, puesto que tiene muchas cosas con las cuales te puedes entretener, sin dejar de lado que se actualiza constantemente, haciendo que sea imposible aburrirse.

Wao... la verdad este juego es uno de esos que siempre e querido probar pero nunca me e animado hacerlo, aparte de que la vida de adulto dificulta tener el tiempo ajaja pero la verdad es que siempre a captado mi atención este juego, tal vez un dia le dedique algo de tiempo a ver que tal xD

El hecho de que trate como una especie de mundo virtual, creando tu propio avatar e interactuando con otros gamers ya lo hace tan interesante como bueno.
Las imágenes se ven muy bien y lo de estar solamente en inglés no es problema,así sea con un diccionario en la mano uno lo juega, conozco a muchos que aprendieron inglés gracias a los juegos 😅😅

¡Gracias @cajiro ! Es verdad, gracias a los juegos me he estado motivando para aprender inglés profesionalmente para poder entender el idioma, ¡ya que son tan buenos que hasta uno aprende inglés con ellos! Simplemente increíble.
rune escape fue por mucho tiempo un juego que saco de la pobreza a muchas personas en venezuela cuando estaba bastante mala la situacion, yo fui una de esas personas y agradezco a ese titulo muchas cosas.
Cierto, conozco a algunas personas que se mantenían gracias a ese juego (de hecho, ellos fueron los que me enseñaron el juego), afortunadamente ya están en una mejor situación con un buen trabajo, no sé si lo siguen jugando todavía, pero lo dudo mucho ¡Gracias por comentar!
yo personalmente jugue muy poco y gane pero al descubrir HIVE lo hice a un lado ya que este es un mundo mucho mas maravilloso
Dios mío este jueves característico de un venezolano qué ha querido echar para lante desde internet en mi caso Yo comencé jugarlos sin problema dure muchísimo tiempo jugando los y me encantó después de esto Solo la gran venta de la moneda del juego Yo comencé a vender fue allí donde me aburrió el juego y lo de jugar pero sin embargo volviendo a ver como tú hablas de él me da mucha nostalgia y tengo muchas ganas de volver a jugarlo Gracias por traerlo

Jugué mucho tiempo el OSRS, puedo decir que me llevo muchas mas cosas buenas que malas, solo que muchas veces es algo tedioso en cuanto a subir algunas cosas como el Woodcooting o Herblore. Pero el PVP es una locura para mi el OSRS y el Albion son los juegos con el mejor PVP.
Albion y OSRS se parecen bastante, los dos tienen la misma premisa de no tener una clase en específico, cuando me compre la gráfica me descargaré albion porque a ese le tengo muchísimas ganas.
Uf, este juego me trae buenos y malos recuerdos jaja 🙈. Cuando estalló el boom en Venezuela yo fui uno de los que se anotó a jugarlo por diversión, aunque por mi propia cuenta fue difícil aprender. Me la pasaba en Revenant (no me acuerdo si se llama así la cueva PK jaja 🙈) intentando unirme a un clan. Lo logré,no sé cómo,pero ese clan me ayudó,era de mayoría Zuliana, región de Venezuela. Tenía una cuenta súper alta, se la regalé a un amigo y se puso a vender sus "M" jaja y hasta ahí llegó 😔. Fueron buenas épocas ❤️

Yo tardé bastante en conocer de el Runescape para lo viejo que es, me lo mencionó un amigo hace unos 3 años quizá, nunca lo he jugado pero recuerdo haber oído que cuando ocurrieron los apagones del 2019 la economía del juego se desplomó pues tiene un buen porcentaje de jugadores venezolanos, no lo pruebo mayormente porque es un MMO, y sé que si toco un MMO me olvido de ver la luz del día otra vez haha.
Es que los mmorpg son 🛐 (si, soy cringe)
