The Fight I Never Lost

"oya na" I beckoned with both hands outstretched out at him as the ball rolled towards his direction with the expectation that he'll kick it back to me so we could continue our game. But to my utter dismay, as he skied the ball into the nearby bush.

Furious, I rushed towards him as he ran into the bush to retrieve the ball, waited for him to bring it out and started dragging with him in an attempt to forcefully take it from him, completely ignoring his plea for me to let him just kick it back onto the field.

I'd had enough of his incompetence and wasn't going to give into his request. In a spontaneous angry reaction, he threw the ball back into the bush and started walking away. I wasn't going to have that, so I started tugging at his shirt, dragging him back to get the ball out for me.

At this point, my peers had joined in on the melee, telling me to let it slide and get back to the pitch. But I wasn't in the mood to give up, after all the last fight I got into on the play ground, I emerged as the winner.

So why would I let this guy disrespect me like that and go free? I felt like a champion and knew that if it got into a fight, I'd easily win. My arrogance has made me completely ignore that this dude was taller than me and much better physically built than me.

So I was adamant that he comes back to undo what he had done. After managing to drag him back to the field, I was taken by surprise as in a quick sharp fling of a hand I was thrown to the ground.

Embarrassed and fueled by the laughter of my peers, I wasn't going to just give up and lose face like that. So I stood up and rushed up at him and we got into a scuffle. And that ended up being the beginning of my downfall and the banana peel that slipped me into oblivion.

After what seemed like a lifetime, I found myself sitting with my cousin in a lonely corner, away from the field. I saw that she was talking, but couldn't make out what she had said before that, but I noticed that she was wiping sand off my body as she was admonishing me.

I looked around and saw that the football game had resumed and that the dude I had just fought had replaced me in my team. That was when I started having faint recollections of what had occurred in the minutes that had passed after I rushed at my foe.

After that run towards him, I had completely blacked out without any consciousness of what was happening around me. The only faint recollection I had of what transpired during the fight was when my elder sister came out to beat the guy on my behalf, which I later confirmed from my cousin.

But obviously I was whooped and I was the loser that was left hanging out to dry alone with my cousin.

It was at that point that it all came back to me. The dream I had a few days before gnawed at my mind and it all became clear. I had seen all that played out that day in that dream and just as in the dream, after blacking out, I was left alone with someone, though I couldn't make out who it was.

And also, just like in the dream, the only part of the fight that I could remember was the part where my sister came to beat the guy for me. What I did not see in the dream though was the personalities involved in the fight (except my sister).

That was the day I learnt to be much more sensitive with my dreams and to take them more seriously, because that wasn't the first time that a dream of mine came to pass, but it was the first time that it affected me personally and physically.

You, obviously, learned more than to just take note of your dreams. You learned not to pick a fight just because you thought you could emerge victorious. Lessons learned in this manner take a hold of our minds’ in the best way possible : we learn not to repeat our mistakes.

Hello @diikaan.Dreams are so interesting and there are people like you who have premonitory dreams and it was just as you dreamed it.
It's good to pay attention to them and they can send us important messages.
