THE FUN IS THE GAIN

Being on a platform like this can be intimidating and confusing. The different layer 2 projects built on the ecosystem and the different communities all wrapped up in this huge project can be confusing to newbies.

When I was first introduced to the platform earlier this year, the enticing factor was the possibility of sharing my little two cents on different topics while earning from it. I always fancied myself as one who can put two to three words together to form an article, and the possibility of earning crypto tokens while doing this was just too good to turn down.

That's how I jumped in and made my introduction post which got a decent amount of upvotes. I was elated and all fired up, so I made my next post immediately but it got nothing, then the third and still nothing.

Discouraged and confused on what to do, I went offline and decided to focus on other things. It took a great deal of encouragement from @nelson-george to convince me back to the platform after two months to make another post and really engage on other people's posts.

When I got back to this place which I now see as home, I knew that I needed to do things differently and be consistent in it. I decided to explore the platform and broaden my horizon to the numerous communities.

But the problem was that I was still motivated by the monetary rewards which made me all too serious and disappointed when my posts weren't engaged both with votes and comments.

But what I've come to find out is that the real gain is in the fun. I mean, we all have been on web2 social media and everyday we spend a considerable amount of our time on them just having fun without real financial value or very little attached to them like what we have here on hive.

So instead of just going to the web 2 applications to have fun with no real value attached to it, I've decided that my fun recides here on hive. If I need financial advice, Leofinance is my go to space.

There's comedy open mic where I can go to release steam, the inkwell for beautiful short fiction stories, sportstalk social for sports savvies like me, cinetv and movies/TV shows for everything movies and Music for music. The list is endless.

What I've gained on hive in the past few months cannot be compared to the time I've lost on traditional web2 apps. Right now I wish that I had discovered this platform earlier, but then I take solace in the fact that, the project is still relatively in its early days. I can only imagine how huge it will be in the 5-10 years.

So for me, I've chosen the path of fun on hive. All I'll do now is just have fun in the space, while leaving the financial aspect of it to accumulate itself. I can't be all serious with the monetary aspect that I miss out on all the fun. The fun is now part of my gain, and that's a win-win for me. I hope others, especially the newbies can make the same resolution.
