The Metropolitan Cathedral is one of the most important Catholic temples of the city located in the Monserrat neighborhood, very close to the Plaza de Mayo and has been more than 400 years since its first construction with a neoclassical architectural style, this building is the last and sixth construction of the temple.
La catedral metropolitana es uno de los templos católicos más importantes de la ciudad ubicada en el barrio de Monserrat, muy cerca de la plaza de mayo y que lleva más de 400 años desde su primera construcción con un estilo de arquitectura neoclasica, éste edificio es la última y sexta construcción del templo.
This cathedral was in charge of the French designers Pedro Benoit and Prospero Catelin who carried out their work in 1822, on the other hand the temple has 12 columns that symbolize the 12 apostles.
The relief that is in the superior part was the work of Dubordieu, sculptor also of French origin who represented through his work the meeting of the Argentineans after the battle of Pavón in the year 1861.
Ésta catedral estuvo a cargo de los diseñadores franceses Pedro Benoit y Próspero Catelin quienes realizaron su trabajo en el año 1822, por otra parte el templo cuenta con 12 columnas que simbolizan a los 12 apóstoles.
El relieve que se encuentra en la parte superior fue trabajo de Dubordieu, escultor también de origen francés que representó a través de su obra la reunión de los argentinos posterior a la batalla de Pavón en el año 1861.
It is one of the cathedrals that I had wanted to visit for a long time because of all the history it carries and the importance it has for the country, in addition to its great value in terms of architecture and designs. I find it really impressive to be in the same place where historical events took place centuries ago. I could consider it as a trip back in time for lack of a better expression.
Es una de las catedrales que había querido visitar hace mucho tiempo por toda la historia que lleva y por la importancia que tiene para el país, además de su gran valor en cuanto a arquitectura y diseños. Me parece realmente impresionante el hecho de estar en el mismo lugar en donde tuvieron sucesos históricos siglos atrás. Podría considerar que es como un viaje en el tiempo a falta de una mejor expresión.
In the following photos you can see the dome of 41 meters high seen from the side of the cathedral, as well as people walking between the columns, which by the way are of Corinthian origin... Also a view of the temple from the main entrance.
The metropolitan cathedral from its beginnings had many complications related to its construction, due to floods, fires and quite precarious materials, reason why it passed through different hands of architects, builders and designers.
It was restored and rebuilt six times to date and this is the final building.
En las siguientes fotos se puede observar la cúpula de 41 metros de altura vista desde al lado lateral de la catedral, así como también personas caminando entre las columnas que por cierto sin de origen corintio... Además una vista del templo desde la entrada principal.
La catedral metropolitana desde sus inicios tuvo muchas complicaciones relacionado a su construcción, motivo de inundaciones, incendios y materiales bastantes precarios, razón por la cual paso por diferentes manos de arquitectos, constructores y diseñadores.
Fué restaurada y reconstruida seis veces hasta la fecha y éste es el edificio final.

The interior of this temple is much more attractive, when entering you can feel the imposing structure and at the same time admire all the details of its construction. It has 4 naves and its golden roof does not go unnoticed.
Inside this temple there are numerous mausoleums and here rest the remains of General San Martin.
El interior de éste templo es mucho más atractivo, al entrar se puede sentir la imponencia de ésta estructura y a su vez admirar todos los detalles de su construcción. Cuenta con 4 naves y su techo dorado no pasa desapercibido.
Dentro de éste templo se encuentran numerosos mausoleos y acá descansan los restos del general San Martín.
The floor of this cathedral was designed by the Italian architect and military Carlos Morra at the beginning of the last century and was manufactured in England. There are also murals inside commemorating the victims of the holocaust and the terrorist attack on the Israeli embassy in Buenos Aires.
El piso de ésta catedral fué diseñado por el arquitecto y militar italiano Carlos Morra a principios del siglo pasado y fué fabricado en Inglaterra. También se encuentran en el interior murales que conmemoran a las víctimas del holocausto y al atentado, ataque terrorista en la embajada de Israel en Buenos Aires.
It's simply a marvel to be able to admire closely this work with so many years of antiquity whose final construction had a long duration of 100 years from 1972 to the year 1872. Declared a national historic monument, it is one of the most important cathedrals in the country.
Impossible to admire all the details of the interior in such a short time, the ornamentation, its arches, aisles and naves where the central nave in a golden design stands out at first glance and when entering the cathedral, you will be able to admire all the details of the interior.
Simplemente una maravilla poder admirar muy de cerca está obra con tantos años de antigüedad cuya construcción final tuvo una larga duración de 100 años desde 1972 hasta el año 1872. Declarado monumento histórico nacional es una de las catedrales más importantes del país.
Imposible admirar todos los detalles del interior en tan poco tiempo, la ornamentación, sus arcos, pasillos y naves donde la nave central en un diseño dorado se destaca a primera vista y al entrar.
During my visit inside the temple, for reasons of comfort I did not want to use my camera so I took the pictures inside the cathedral with my phone, using several times the wide angle mode to have a better appreciation in general framing and to be able to capture the dome from inside in larger dimensions.
Durante mi visita en el interior del templo por temas de comodidad no quise utilizar mi cámara así que las fotografías dentro de la catedral las tomé con mi teléfono, utilizando en varias oportunidades el modo gran angular para poder tener una mejor apreciación en encuadres generales y para poder captar la cupula desde adentro en mayores dimensiones.
I think that this is one of the greatest attractions in the city of Buenos Aires that every person should know if they wish to visit the country and especially the autonomous city of Buenos Aires.
