Cozy Critter Autumn : Gathering Acorns

There is a new set of prompts made by our friend @cjsean she calls the Cozy Critter Autumn drawing prompts. Very timely for the start of the autumn season or whatever it feels like to you wherever you are. I do love taking some drawing challenges like this because the season can bring some beautiful ideas and I am sure that we will never run out of.

The prompt I depicted is "Gathering Acorns". Yeah I made a bee and I am trying to make sense out of it now. How can a bee gather acorns? :) They don't but let us pretend they do here.

I started with a bee image that I already have then duplicated it flipped it around and changed the size to give that idea of a colony. See they are now buzzing around.

The acorns I made are stylized and they are easy and quick to do. I want big acorns because they are the main theme. Spread around on the ground waiting to be picked.

I wanted to use brown or something orange for the background but the acorns and the bees are blending in so I thought a dark dull bluish gray might work.

Some quick brush strokes for the big leaves in the background made a hazy transparent kind of effect but the leaves on the foreground I made them solid. That is how I achieve depth and texture in this piece.
