《Kpop獵魔女團》是一部結合韓流偶像、奇幻動作與喜劇元素的電影,它不僅創下 Netflix 史上觀看次數最高的電影紀錄,更獲得第83屆金球獎與第98屆奧斯卡最佳動畫長片獎,電影最大的特色,就是將現代 K-pop 偶像文化與驅魔題材巧妙融合,描述一支人氣超高的女子偶像團體,白天是站在聚光燈下唱跳演出的明星,享受粉絲的歡呼與掌聲,但是當夜晚來臨,她們卻換上戰鬥服,化身守護世界的獵魔人,秘密對抗潛伏在人類社會中的邪惡勢力,她們必須在繁忙的巡演、錄音、拍攝與獵魔任務之間取得平衡。

雖然我在 Netflix 上看過這部影片,但是我覺得就是一部普通的娛樂片,不過,我也能理解這部影片會如此風行的原因,首先是年輕人對韓國女團偶像的嚮往,本身就是現象級的全球熱潮,此外再結合了奇幻冒險題材,滿足了熱愛動畫與動作電影的族群的想像,而影片的主題曲〈Golden〉也以其勵志歌詞與朗朗上口的旋律而獲得樂評家的正面評價,在包括韓國、英國和美國在內的多個國家的排行榜上名列前茅。

沒想到在某個玩具特展上,居然也看到《Kpop獵魔女團》的快閃活動,展示一些角色公仔與獨家粉絲應援周邊,策展單位給的攤位空間不大,但是還是不少粉絲紛紛打卡及拍照,朋友興沖沖地往攤位一瞧,發現周邊商品大多已經賣光了,不過,朋友說,再過一陣子,在台北有個為期兩週左右的限時快閃店,現場將首賣 HUNTR/X 官方絨毛玩偶,,消費滿額還可獲得限量紀念贈品,她已經準備要衝了。

前幾年也有一部現象級的影片,就是《冰雪奇緣》,我不禁比較起來這兩部影片,它們都以極高的洗腦歌曲和龐大的周邊魅力席捲全球,只是《Kpop獵魔女團》偏東方特色,而《冰雪奇緣》帶有西方色彩,《Kpop獵魔女團》主要吸引青少年,而《冰雪奇緣》好像深受孩童喜愛,不過,兩部影片必定都是未來所謂的經典影片之一。




KPop Demon Hunters is a movie that blends K-pop idols, fantasy action, and comedy into one entertaining package. It not only became one of Netflix's biggest movie hits, but also won the Golden Globe for Best Animated Feature at the 83rd Golden Globe Awards and the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature at the 98th Oscars. What makes the movie stand out is how it cleverly combines modern K-pop idol culture with demon hunting. The story follows a hugely popular girl group that spends the day performing on stage and soaking up the cheers of their fans. But when night falls, they suit up as demon hunters, secretly protecting the world from evil forces hiding among humans. At the same time, they have to balance concerts, recording sessions, photo shoots, and their dangerous missions.

Even though I watched it on Netflix, I personally thought it was just a fun, entertaining movie. That said, I can definitely see why it became such a huge hit. First of all, K-pop girl groups are already a global phenomenon, especially among younger audiences. Mixing that with a fantasy adventure story makes it even more appealing to fans of animation and action movies. On top of that, the theme song, "Golden," received plenty of praise from critics thanks to its inspiring lyrics and catchy melody, and it climbed the music charts in several countries, including South Korea, the UK, and the US.

To my surprise, I even came across a KPop Demon Hunters pop-up booth at a toy expo. It featured character figures and exclusive fan merchandise. The booth itself wasn't very big, but it still attracted plenty of fans who stopped to take photos and check in on social media. My friend eagerly looked around, only to discover that most of the merchandise had already sold out. She then told me there would be a two-week limited-time pop-up store in Taipei soon, where the official HUNTR/X plush dolls would make their debut. Customers who spend over a certain amount will also receive limited-edition gifts, and she's already planning to be there.

A few years ago, another cultural phenomenon was Frozen. It made me think about how similar these two movies are. Both became worldwide sensations thanks to their incredibly catchy songs and massive merchandise appeal. The difference is that KPop Demon Hunters has a distinctly East Asian flavor, while Frozen has a more Western fairy-tale style. KPop Demon Hunters seems to appeal more to teenagers, whereas Frozen has always been especially popular with children. Still, I believe both movies will be remembered as modern classics for years to come.
