Hello dear friends of Hive. It is a pleasure to greet you again. Today I want to share in our dear community of Hive Diy, the elaboration of a basket with 100% ecological materials. Generally when we go camping or when we go to the beach we usually take disposable plates that unconsciously some people usually leave on the shores of the beach or on the ground. The use of ecological materials is the guarantee of preserving the environment and its ecosystem. That is why the use of baskets made with coconut palms is a great alternative if you want to help the environment.

Besides, the creation of the basket has a beautiful design and an energetic charge of love and nature.

In this opportunity you will be able to observe the elaboration of this ecological basket.

MATERIALS USED:

  • A coconut palm
  • Twine
  • Knife

PROCEDURE:

Step 1

Take half of a coconut palm and count 12 rows of elongated leaves of the coconut palm.

Two ends should be left to join the pieces together, so that a circumference is made with the palm leaf. A slit should be made at these ends to make the thread pass through when joining both ends.

Step 2

Then the leaves are rolled to make them follow the same direction, and these should be tied with thread for a minute. In order to make them malleable to the weaving direction.

Step 3

Then take a leaf and start weaving in such a way that the first hour is passed over the second leaf and under the third leaf.

Then that same first leaf is passed under the fourth leaf.

The first sheet will exit on the fourth sheet outwards. In this way the whole weaving of the basket should be done. Weave in this sequence until you reach the fourth leaf.

Step 4

then take the second leaf and weave consecutively through the following leaves up and down until you reach the fourth leaf from that weaving.

Step 5

This is the third leaf of the weave.
This is the third leaf of the weave. This should be done until the last leaf is finished.

Notice that the procedure is the same, I just have to say that as I was weaving the fabric I was preventing the ends of the fabric from coming off, with one hand I was holding the ends and with the other I was weaving.

Once the weaving is finished, it should look like this.

Step 6

Then little by little a little pressure will be applied to the ends of the palms to tighten the weave.

Continue to apply pressure and give the basket a concave shape.

This is the result of the pressure exerted on the basket.

Step 7

Next, to make the base of the basket, join the ends of the palm that have not been woven.

To do this, join all the leaves together and join them with a piece of thread, right at the base.

Step 8

Each termination will be introduced through the base of the fabric.

This is done successively with each of the protruding ends of the fabric.

This is how the base of the basket will look like.

Step 9

Next, the handle of the basket is created using the sticks of the palm leaves.

Then the leaf is rolled up along the loop formed by the sticks.

We obtain a basket 100% ecological and ready to use.

Infinite blessings. Thank you very much for reading!

So one branch of a palm tree is enough to make a whole basket? Why aren't people making more of it! Hahaha
