We were invited over the weekend by our homies from DJ's Playground to attend the special event they put together to reveal the latest DJ controller from Pioneer the DDJ-Rev5.

The event was hosted at Artebar in TREC, Kuala Lumpur, where they also were hosting their DJ students graduation and giving away their certificates for finishing their DJ courses and graduating. The Pioneer DDJ-REV5 is a new-generation controller that offers an authentic scratch experience and innovative features. Some of the key features that I liked personally:

My personal favorite is the dedicated buttons for Stems control: Stems is a new technology that allows you to split a track into four separate parts: drums, bass, vocals, and melody. The DDJ-REV5 has dedicated special buttons for controlling Stems, making it easy to create remixes and mashups on the fly that are also spread across the controller that allows you to push your live DJ performance to the next level by allowing you access to new featurs and tools on the fly

Scratch DJ you will be happy as the DDJ-Rev5 has has The MAGVEL FADER which as we know it is a high-quality fader that's known for its durability and smooth operation. It's also adjustable, so you can customize it to your own preferences.

This was interesting to see! The Auto BPM Transition is a new feature that automatically syncs the BPM of two tracks when you're mixing. This can be a great help for beginners, and it can also free up your hands so you can focus on other things, like scratching or adding effects doing or doing transitions between different genres and bpm's of music

Large jog wheels felt nice for scratching and contorl the music with customizable RGB LED rings made of aluminum and have a premium feel, and the customizable RGB LED rings.

And finally the Piano Play mode, this will appeal a lot to the Threestyle type of DJs and musical DJ's who like to play pinao tone melodies during mixing, transitiong or showcasing their blends during their live performance, def an added creative touch to your mixes.

What I didn't like much is the face that DJ's with slow computers wont be able to use the controller and given it's stems oriented it requires strong computer processing to operate so those with older laptop models might need to upgrade and on that note I hope from Pioneer upcoming controllers to have the feature to take some of that processing power when using all these nice new features where DJs are not forced to keep upgrading their computers to make use of the latest tech in DJ world.

  1. Some additional features of the DDJ-REV5:
  2. 2 USB Type-C ports for smooth DJ transitions
  3. Wide variety of inputs and outputs, including an XLR master out
  4. Built-in soundcard
  5. Compatible with Serato DJ Pro and rekordbox

The DDJ-REV5 is available now for a starting price of $2000

I will leave you with some random pictures from the event, until the next post keep Hivin'! โœŒ๏ธ
