Embracing the Change, Hive is alive!

A new day to be grateful though on the flip side we can focus on the negatives. The dwelling in misery is a comfort zone to many, but it is good to dwell a bit and and let it out the system I bleive.

When I first heard of hive I was skeptical. A new chain? New Token? So we are just going to give up steem? Yes! But it’s all about the community. The name doesn’t matter they say. But what about the many projects that heard of the HIVE fork pretty much 3 days before? ( Just like most of the uninformed).

Most weren’t ready but went with the flow. Many Steem-engine projects were/are still wondering what to do. But at the end of the day most will be HIVING. With ReggaeSteem there is the issue of re-branding, changing and redirecting URLS, waiting for steem-engine to move/be created over on HIVE as HIVE-Engine and then the costs that may be involved. On top of that, one of ReggaeSteem’s co-founders who is also the dev, donald.porter has “resigned”. And that’s just the changes taking place on the chain. ( Personally I have a lot of changes off chain as well.)

At his point in time patiently and optimistically waiting seems like the best option. There is no plan to re-brand anything at the moment. ( Though it will make sense in the near future once we are clear on paths to take.) There is no need to rush ahead and follow the crowd. With the major use case for reggaesteem which is crypto tourism being crippled by COVID19 ( oh another change), there isn’t much of a rush. Reggae song reviews aren’t an easy sell, sign up and retention is still an issue and crypto just isn’t attractive to the masses..... but all that will CHANGE.

I’ll be rethinking the strategy for @reggaesteem along with @miyard. It won’t be easy, maybe the best thing to do is give up. But I believe once all the smoke has cleared and the stars align, the idea behind ReggaeSteem will bring value to many in a way that doesn’t disrupt what they are used to.

How do I feel about HIVE?

I embrace the change and the end to the war that was taking place on steem and on Twitter. So much content was geared towards Missa Chin ( as we would call him in Jamaica). It made the community bitter and steemin on the edge. I’m glad to see the community somewhat happy again and building without a looming threat.

Of course there are issues such as those left out of the airdrop. People like @truce who voted for sock puppets by accident ( yes I believe many people did this who used steemit.) The good thing is these individuals can make an appeal /proposal requesting the airdrop. I personally wish they just left the ninja mined stake and steem accounts out the airdrop. Now it is as if these individuals are going on trial in front of the community.

There is also the issue of the HIVE Proposal funds and how exactly they will be used. Many believe it will just go to developers and marketers will miss out, much won't change. Many are afraid to put up a proposal as they feel only popular witnesses/devs get supported. There needs to be a balance and the community has to work together to ensure that. There is also the carried over Ninja mined which the community will decide how to use and some will trickle into the DOA. Some believe that it should have been burnt. I agree, unless it all goes into marketing...but it sin't time for mass marketing yet so burn some or I all. There will be friction, hey, that is how Steem > I mean HIVE has always been. No friction no traction.

MY WISH is that Steem and Hive both Strive. It would be a win for the average joe in the community. But that is wishful thinking.

Change? I embrace it. I look forward to seeing the progress we all make on the chain. The bugs will be fixed and the projects fully settled. ( stop bugging the peeps in discord ) It will take time so enjoy the journey. Btw , what are we now? HIVIST, Hivians, HIVIE, Honey Badgers LOL.

Be safe in these times.

Yeah also sounds close to what we are used to. I realize we have a lot of HivinSteemians. Like myself.

Good to see you working through things. It's a lot to take in, so many considerations on-chain and off-chain. But there's time. Take it easy, let things settle, find your way forward. Reggaesteem is a brilliant idea, I'm glad you decided to stay with it.

Thanks Shani. Indeed there is time, it’s a marathon and not a mad dash when t comes to blockchain and especially with a project like ReggaeSteem. I will stick with it until the bricks / blocks fall off:)
