I came across Papa San’s new album and I am giving it a listen as I type. I must say I’m impressed. As a teen going to Jamaican College, I’d see Papa San come and pick up his son, he always gave the youths “a money” to buy bag juice and then gave them words of encouragement. It’s really inspiring to see this legend still doing his thing and by listening to this album I think it deserves much more attention.

The good thing about his music is that it still has that hardcore reggae element to it though it is gospel based. A very potent combination as it is an everlasting message on an infectious Riddim. Below I leave you with the first track on the album titled “Story”.

I haven't heard of him before. From what you've written, he seems to be a kind hearted man.

He is a dancehall legend! Unfortunately in the grand scheme of things, you won't hear about him until He's dead! Sad but true, in this highly marketed industry.

Ohh, so sad he's gone.
That's how life is. Sometimes, people are being remembered/praised immediately they are gone. But when they were alive, nobody gave a damn about them.

No no, he's not dead, but I feel he won't get the recognition until he passes. Hopefully I'm wrong because he has some great music.

Pap san!!!! Long time. I don’t know who can run di lyrics as fast as him. I really love his gospel songs. Didn’t know a new one was out. When I just came to Japan, I introduced him to my students when I was talking about Jamaican music. They were fascinated with the name “Papa san”. As you know here, they put "san" after someone’s actual name but not after a title as “papa”. The students chuckled at the name. I was so used the name that I didn’t even realized it would have peaked their interest. 😃
