Sometimes a song comes along an makes stop in your tracks and think “a who dat, who made that Riddim?”. Well Riches & Power by The Yutes ft Govana is that kind of song IMO.

The Yutes are Jamaican brothers living in the states and they have found the perfect blend of their roots to go with trap surroundings. After further research I found out that these two are sons of Dancehall artiste Mr. Lex. He was a staple on the Dancehall scene in the 90s and early 2,000s with hits such as Make Money, Good hole, and Full Hundred to name a few. Dancehall-ers will know all those songs.

The Drill Trap Reggae beat.

Now this is what really caught my attention of this track. The mixing of the genres in a way that is extremely pleasing to the ears. The Reggae one drop and the drill trap flow so well together and Govana on the chorus with the new era Dancehall vibes really brings this track to life. The Yutes also hold their own delivering hardcore smooth flowing verses. The visuals are on point as well. Could the yutes be the ones to lock that Rap / Dancehall thrown? Only time will tell but so far they well positioned. Check out their YouTube for more of their music and the more trap side of things.

I can hear the distinct genres indeed and it can sometimes be a bit too crowded, but this track has a nice balance.

What's good Bredda!Nice track, i really like Govana (except the "Suck your..." in this track). They are taking the idea i am having since 2 or 3 month..."Reggae Trap".
Well, let's go there with some new tracks...
I heard the Reggae Trap on my own Daddy Yankee Album mix, where i have the "Plandemic Reggae" in the mix with some trap track from the Yankee Album...

Yeh man Govana have the right tone and vibes for †he track. For real, him coulda leff out that part, it come een like a normal bad wrod these days and that is sad. Back in the days it was the word of last resort before a serious fight.

This sub genre is steadily picking up, i like it, it blends really well.

I'm one of the originators of HipHop Reggae in Germany, already back in the days with "Trini P" , "DJ Luvsick" (my old name) and our "Broken Needles" crew...

I’ve been playing it a lot last week. Very smooth beat and flow of the artiste. Especially Govana. Glad you liked it. Play and make the neighbors hear 😂
