Ginger Haired Lasses : A new Painting and sketch

My painting of a pair of Ginger lasses.
I often find the characters and portraits that arrive on my canvas and paintings and drawings are red heads. I'm not sure where it stems from, other than perhaps my love of the Pre-Raphaelites who often loved a ginger.

One of the sketches for this piece.
I often do a few sketches, in my journal doodling each morning. Then I will move digitally and fuss about with charcoal and such to decide on shadow and light. In simple black and white I can determine the focus of the gaze of the subjects.

I love working with oils digitally, much in the same way I do in real life, only here one is given the luxury of mixing media that might not be possible in real world time. I love to go over brush strokes with chalk and pastels, blurring and focusing on blocks of colour.
I love the portrait painters of the late 19th c. and so my painterly work like this is often inspired by their use of soft handling and color blocks for light and shadow.
As I often do with my pieces, I LOVE to use them as decorative art. And to see them on things such as Tote Bags and interesting Wood Block Art is quite satisfying, particularly when a piece does well.

I also think the Pillows give the feel of a canvas painting and is an affordable and interesting way to add this type of art to your house without the commitment of an "oil painting on the wall".

And I'm Always excited when someone gets the Large Wall Mural, I love to think of my pieces on such a scale in a home, often imagining a dining room or a large city loft, or a child's room with my animal pieces.

Well, I hope you enjoyed today's piece and that you like a ginger lass or two, yourself. I hope you find a moment in your day to indulge in your own passions and remember to always stay creative.

I've never seen quite such a texture used in a painting before (digital or otherwise). Very unique - nicely done! 😊

Thank you so much @freecompliments I'll take any compliment, free or otherwise :)
Glad to give you one! Quality work and genuine effort, in my book, always earns a compliment.
I like the effect you achieved, it really looks great. It conveys warmth, beauty and tenderness to me. Keep it up. Best regards.
I'm so happy you feel this @mazquel it always makes me feel joy to know my work has elicited anything from someone, thank you so much for that.
Your pre-Raphaelite influences are showing again. :D
Happily so @holoz0r :) I love that time period and Sargent is one of my favourites as well (tho not a pre Raphaelite) and I'd sit and stare at a large painting of his at the MFA often when we had our place in Boston. My love affair with the figures peering from the past.
I still remember my "pilgrimage" to London to see the TATE Britain and the glorious works of the Pre Raphaelites, Millais, Waterhouse, Holman-Hunt, and bizarrely, while I was there, also Turner.
That period of time and breaking away from "the academy" produced some really good quality social and societal commentary, albeit through abstractions and metaphor, as opposed to literal depiction of dramatic battles and historical events.
Red is just a cool hair colour and so much fun to paint, no excuse needed XD
I agree @ryivhnn it's just my natural inclination so I'm going with it :)
