I Made A Crochet Shrug

#needlework
Hello my fellow needleworkers,I hope you all are having a wonderful day and you’re all doing well too. Today I’ll be talking about this client generally and how we got to connect while showing the process of how I made this shrug.

This particular client got my number from a broadcast I sent a few months ago (once in a month or once in two months I send broadcast messages to my contacts so they can help me repost).

When she first texted she said that she won’t be getting anything immediately and that she always wanted to get crochet wears too so she didn’t want to pass up on the chance of saving my number.

Not up to a month later she texted me and said she wants to get a shrug that I should send her samples so she’ll pick the design she wants (just to put this out there.

I always have tons of pictures on my phone for moments like this because most clients know they want something but they don’t have a design in mind so this helps them settle with a design better)

She picked a carton colored shrug and said she wanted to get the exact same thing (it has been almost a year since I last made that shrug design but I was happy because I did want to try it out again just to see how good my crocheting has become).

She finished ordering and made payment that night so the next day I went yarn shopping. As much as I love carton color, people rarely order anything carton I don’t know why tho.

Anyways when I got the yarns I got straight to work. I wanted to get it off my slate (most times when I get orders if it’s an easy one I work on it immediately then drop it for delivery instead of adding it to the pile of orders).

She is thick so I just used my body to measure. Since it’s mesh I had no issue because it’ll shrink eventually.

I finished the front and went straight to the back. I made everything joined so I won’t have to make so much last minute joining on the cloth. So after the back aligned with the front I was left with making the sleeves.

First sleeve was no issue at all though since I was only following measurements of length. Then came the second, I think I also have issues when I have to duplicate a certain piece of work.

Like if I made 20 rows of dc repeating it all over to match the first is not something I find really fun. I don't know if I’m the only crocheter that feels that way but that’s just it for me.

I went on to make the second sleeve (duplicating the first one) , counted the rows and used stitch markers to check my progress till I got to the last row.

Not sure I had a lot of ends to weave in or cut since I was doing that when I was making it. There were few and I just cut it since it was already tucked in.

I feel the best part is calling clients or texting them and sending them pictures of the finished work. She said it looked so unique and beautiful and she literally thanked me 😊😊

These are the supplies I used to make this hat:
*measurement tape
*Darning needle
*4 balls of 40g acrylic yarn
*scissors
*4.0mm hook

Ps: the pictures used here belong to me and were taken with my mobile phone.

Yes,I also hate repeating the same work
It’s gets exhausting when you have to make sure you’re doing the same thing you did for the first one.
I’m also curious what you used the darning needle for.

Hiding the ends of the yarn. Sometimes I use a hook or a needle

Beautiful job! This looks like something I would definitely use. I loved the color your client chose and I'm glad she loved it too. Your work is very neat, congrats ❤️.
