My trainee made her first shrug

Hello my fellow needleworkers, I hope you all are doing well and I’m sure you definitely had a good day because I did.
Today I’ll be sharing this beautiful shrug my student made. I’ll start with a little story. This January I decided to hold a promo class for the people that are interested in crocheting and probably can’t pay the regular amount. (The brand does this twice in a year. At the beginning and at the end).

This time it came urgent and I still managed to get few
People that were interested in learning. This class started 9 days ago and I must say the experience has been amazing.

I’ll take some time out to talk about my wonderful trainee. First to come through was Abigail. She is good. She is willing to learn. She’s humble and most of all she’s got a really good character. Abigail surprised me so much that she learnt seven (7) basic crochet stitches in less than two hours. And no she has never had knowledge of crocheting prior to that so I was a thousand percent stun. This is the first project they are doing since then and this is Abigail’s. She really loved working and this and when she finished she spent a whole lot of time admiring it.

I actually love the shrug and how she took her time to make it. Anytime she made a mistake she would voluntarily frog that part out saying she didn’t want to make it in a bad way, that it is better it comes out perfect.
I’m not exaggerating when I say the first sleeve she did I think she frogged the different parts thrice or more. I must say I’m really proud of her. There’s more to it than just her learning fast.

Abigail’s words to me when she started was that she has always wanted to learn but then the prices were bad and that one time she got ignored by a crocheter she wanted to learn from. Then she was to start school and then she opted to join the second batch so she’ll have time to learn this skill so she’ll have something she can do and earn from while in school.

I’m also happy that she got comfortable enough to join our conversations (which she wasn't used to) . I actually think she was being careful. Or maybe studying us to know how we behave. I wouldn’t know.
In the past 9 days Abigail has surpassed my expectations. She asks questions every time to understand what is going on and honestly I love it because how else would you learn?
Sometimes when I am working she comes closer to watch me and see how and where I put the stitches or turn it.
It’s a bit unusual for me to make an appreciation post but this one is well deserved. Abigail is amazing and I hope her passion and love for the work will never wither.

Ps: the pictures used here belong to me and were taken with my mobile phone.

Abigail is very lucky to have met you! To see what a beautiful and noble person you are to teach her and help her regain her confidence after being ignored by others; few people have the patience to be good instructors and you speak of Abigail with such admiration and gentleness, I know she is in good hands!

"Abigail surprised me so much that she learnt seven (7) basic crochet stitches in less than two hours."

That girl has a great talent! I really wish I could send her my congratulations, God bless her hands! 💗 👏
