Warm and Cozy || Crochet Ruffle Socks For Cold Days.

#needleworkmonday

Designing and bringing them to life has to be the most interesting thing I do with crochet but sometimes recreating an already existing design can be more fun.

I’ve always prioritized making outfits that are not just stylish but comfortable but what’s comfortable without a nice fluffy pair of socks for your feet. I’ve had the opportunity to make socks for a while now but they didn’t quite satisfy me. When I saw the ankle sock version of this sock on a creators reel on Instagram I couldn’t help myself.

I spent so long fixating on it and I finally decided to search for how to make it and luckily for me the tutorial found me first. I mean I’ve made socks before but none of them felt like socks to me and to be honest I needed something that looked like the shape of the wearer feet and not something that just existed in limbo.

I came across this plain sock pattern on an Instagram reel and I was astonished I mean, it looked like knit so much that I did a triple take when she captioned it as crochet. The icing on the cake was finding this milk cotton yarn in my yarn bag, it was just the perfect yarn for this sock.

I spent so much time making this and the challenging part was that this was my first slip stitch only project, I was new to the tension and this sock making design all together. I got a hang of it after the first pair of sock and the second was more like smooth sailing with lesser tension and to be honest it looks softer and more stretchy than the first sock.

Like I stated earlier a plain look wasn’t what I was going for so I immediately attached my sequin yarn to this and made it a really cute sock with ruffles. I mean, comfy and cute doesn’t hurt anyone. Besides who doesn’t need a sock that reminds them of their cute outing socks.

This is totally out of topic but what exactly happened in the design industry, outfits look so plain and without whimsy. Most times I remember the outfits I had when I was younger and realize that the younger generation of today wear more dull designs and look more like little adults and less like kids.

Anyways as much as I like plain outfits myself I prioritize creating designs for my clients that not only make them looks good or presentable depending on the occasion they plan to attend but outfits that also put out who they are as a person.

This sock was me being me and my aim is to factor in aesthetics when creating beautiful handmade pieces for the girlies and the men out there.

I took some time off to rest but I’m back like I never left. I can’t wait to put smiles on the faces of true fashion lovers.

Would you like to try this design?
