(ESP/ENG) Anosmia
Que gran importancia tiene cada uno de nuestros sentidos para nosotros, cada uno de ellos es necesario para poder desenvolvernos en nuestro entorno, porque inicio con estas palabras, porque fue hasta el día de ayer cuando pude sentir la falta de uno de mis sentidos, y lo peor es que no lo había notado.
How important each one of our senses is for us, each one of them is necessary to be able to function in our environment, because I start with these words, because it was until yesterday when I could feel the lack of one of my senses, and the worst thing is that I had not noticed it.
Hace días atrás les había comentado sobre unas molestias de salud que traía, un dolor de cabeza inclemente, unos cuadros febriles fuera de lo común, y luego de asistir con el médico, una inyección, unas pastillas, todo mejoro, pero fue hasta el día de ayer cuando en la noche mientras cocinaba con mi esposa, nos descuidamos y se nos estaba quemando la comida, cuando nos dimos cuenta el humo estaba por toda la sala, y resulta que ninguno de los dos percibía olores.
A few days ago I had told you about some health problems I had, an inclement headache, some unusual febrile symptoms, and after going to the doctor, an injection, some pills, everything got better, but it was until yesterday evening when, while I was cooking with my wife, we were careless and the food was burning, when we realised the smoke was all over the room, and it turns out that neither of us could smell anything.
Muchas dudas e incógnitas pasaron por mi mente ¿por qué me está sucediendo esto?, ya mi esposa tenía días diciéndome que no percibía sabores y olores, sin embargo, como mi sentido del gusto estaba bien no le había prestado atención a mi cuerpo, por esto me doy cuenta de que el olfato cuando no está presente, si no fue hasta el momento del humo que aprecie la ausencia total de él.
Many doubts and unknowns went through my mind, why is this happening to me, my wife had already been telling me for days that I did not perceive tastes and smells, however, as my sense of taste was fine I had not paid attention to my body, this is why I realise that smell is not present, it was not until the smoke that I appreciated the total absence of it.
En busca por internet razones por las cuales se perdía este sentido, me tope con varias razones, y por descarte llegamos a un simple motivo de por el cual estábamos con esta ausencia, resulta que una semana antes acudimos a una celebración por la graduación de mi cuñada, en la reunión había una tía de mi esposa que diagnosticaron con Covid, y no manifestó nada en ese momento, así que cuando nos dimos cuenta fue al otro día, pasaron los días y ninguno de los que asistimos presentaron síntomas, hasta hace poco más de 4 días empece yo con mi dolor de cabeza y seguido mi esposa empezó a tener síntomas de gripe, así que asumimos que era una simple gripe.
Searching the internet for reasons why this sense was lost, I came across several reasons, and by discarding we arrived at a simple reason why we were with this absence, it turns out that a week before we went to a celebration for the graduation of my sister-in-law, at the meeting there was an aunt of my wife who was diagnosed with Covid, and she did not manifest anything at the time, so when we realised it was the next day, the days passed and none of us who attended presented symptoms, until just over 4 days ago I started with my headache and then my wife began to have flu symptoms, so we assumed it was just a simple flu.
Ahora pensamos en tantas cosas, tantos cuidados y precauciones que tuvimos a lo largo de dos años, evitando salidas y contacto con otras personas, cuidándonos de un contagio y terminamos siendo contagiados de la manera más tonta, también tuvimos la suerte de que el virus nos dio de manera pasiva, no paso a mayores, asumimos que esto es gracias a la vacuna que se nos fue administrada hace poco.
Now we think about so many things, so much care and precautions we took over two years, avoiding going out and contact with other people, protecting ourselves from infection and we ended up being infected in the most stupid way, we were also lucky that the virus gave us passively, it didn't happen, we assume that this is thanks to the vaccine that was administered to us a short time ago.
Actualmente, nos aislamos totalmente, porque no queremos contagiar a más personas, hemos tomado las medidas, incluso luego de consultar con el médico sobre el tiempo de eliminación del virus del organismo, tenemos planes de pasar las fiestas en casa, toda esta experiencia nos ha demostrado algo que ya sabíamos, la importancia de las vacunas, en adultos y niños, y lo importante que es aplicarse la vacuna contra el covid actualmente, conocemos personas que no quieren vacunarse por temor y desinformación, ahora pudimos contactarlos y darles fe de nuestra experiencia y el beneficio de habernos vacunado, el virus nos afectó como un simple resfriado y los efectos más duraderos han sido la perdida del gusto en mi esposa y la anosmia que me causo a mí y que aún sigo sin percibir olores luego de cuatro días.
At the moment, we are totally isolated, because we do not want to infect more people, we have taken measures, even after consulting with the doctor about the time of elimination of the virus from the body, we have plans to spend the holidays at home, this whole experience has shown us something we already knew, the importance of vaccines, in adults and children, and how important it is to apply the vaccine against covid now, We know people who do not want to get vaccinated because of fear and misinformation, now we were able to contact them and give them faith of our experience and the benefit of having been vaccinated, the virus affected us like a simple cold and the most lasting effects have been the loss of taste in my wife and the anosmia that it caused me and that I still cannot perceive smells after four days.

Aunque parezca incoherente, todos los que se han contagiado lo han hecho por ir al trabajo o en reuniones familiares. Es muy raro que la gente se contagie en otro sitio, es por eso que la cuarentena al principio fue tan fuerte, porque no sabíamos como se transmitía el virus. Menos mal que están vacunados y que no pasó a mayores. Que se mejoren pronto.
Como decimos acá, nadamos tanto para morir en la orilla, y como mencionas, menos mal que nos colocamos la vacuna y no paso a mayores, y ya estamos recuperándonos rápidamente, saludos.
