A Mother's Monday: Choosing My Child's Education Despite Farm and Work Responsibilities

Motherhood is one of the greatest blessings God has given me. It is not always easy, but every sacrifice becomes meaningful because I know I am doing it for my family, especially for my child.

Today is Monday, and like every school day, I woke up early to prepare everything before heading to school. My husband is currently away, so I have to manage both our home and our farm by myself. Since we didn't have any transportation, my child and I simply walked to school. We were already running late, and I knew the flag ceremony would start soon.

Before leaving, I still had another responsibility waiting for me. I needed to transfer our cows and carabao to their grazing area. Knowing that we might not make it to school on time, I humbly asked my husband uncle as they planting rice if they could help me move the animals. I am truly thankful because they willingly helped me. Moments like this remind me that kindness still exists, especially in our farming community.

Being a mother has taught me how to become wise with my time. There are days when my responsibilities seem endless, but I always remind myself that my child's education comes first. Farm work will always be there, but every school day is another opportunity for my child to learn, grow, and build a brighter future.

Our walk to school is quite far, but I never want distance to become an excuse for missing classes. Instead, I want my child to understand that life requires sacrifice, determination, and perseverance. I hope that by seeing my own efforts, my child will grow up appreciating hard work and never give up on dreams.

At school, the children had a coloring activity about vegetables. It made me smile when my child proudly told the teacher that carrots are the favorite vegetable. Sometimes, the simplest moments become the happiest memories for a mother.

The day became even busier when the teacher asked me to take pictures for the students school IDs. I gladly accepted the task because I enjoy helping whenever I can. Afterward, all the children gathered for a group photo, and seeing their smiles made my heart full.

As I walked home, I realized that motherhood is not about having an easy life. It is about choosing love, making sacrifices, and giving your best every single day. No matter how busy I become between farming and raising my child, I will always choose to be present because I know these moments will become memories that we will treasure forever.
