My Hive Rep & Mama Dreemit Turn 73, Celebrating at a Winery!

avatar

About two weeks ago I realized I was set up for this post- that mama was turning 73, and if I played it just right I could flip my rep at the same time... pretty awesome that I managed it!

I love synchrony, and there's something delightfully synchronous about this!

PXL_20221010_185148226.jpg

We'll be celebrating with the whole fam on Saturday, kicking it off with a brunch show performed by my brother at Embark Cider House, then heading to his place for dinner.

But mom definitely does not object to more than one day in her honor, and she deserves it, sweet, cute lady that she is!

If you're eyeing these goodies and wondering where to find them, this is the bakery at Wegmans in Ithaca. Last I heard this Mercedes of all grocery stores had made its way into North Carolina, but the majority of them can still be found in the upstate NY region.

PXL_20221010_185204236.jpg

They are not all created equal though, and the Ithaca branch is definitely among the best!

PXL_20221010_185141653-01.jpeg

I'm not a "typical" woman, in that I don't particularly enjoy shopping. Not for clothes, not for trinkets, and certainly not for the chore that is groceries. However, Wegmans is my one exception.

PXL_20221010_201926866.jpg

From its bakery to its salad, sub and sushi bars, to the many aisles devoted to international foods...and most importantly its incredible beer selection- I look forward to stopping in!

And mama- who loves to shop- loves this place the most!

PXL_20221010_191125971.jpg

After a yummy lunch consisting of a big salad, creme brulee and a chocolate mousse dome; it was off to a winery!

Ithaca, while it offers most things, does not have many wineries, so we took a little trip homeward and beyond toward Geneva.

PXL_20220926_185702068.jpg

On a back road near Seneca Lake you will find this gem of a place!

PXL_20220926_185900498.jpg

With a big winery on one side, a store and cafe on the other, and a brewery in the back, it covers most of the bases- especially since they also offer wine slushies year round!

PXL_20220926_185942832.jpg

Every day is a different combination- pomegranates and blueberries were on the menu today, and freaking wow!

PXL_20220926_185958326.jpg

But my favorite part of this trip was Mama's reaction to the items at the register- she absolutely howled with laughter, especially over Delicate Fucking Flower :-D

PXL_20220915_192933650.jpg

I really wish I would have taken video, the clerk thought she was hysterical...the pronounced Long Island accent definitely playing a part XD

PXL_20220915_192916027.jpg

This whole thing brought on a memory...

I have only ever heard mom cuss once in my life, when she startled me and my teen kids by referring to my aunt (her sister-in-law) as a "big mouthed, big assed beotch!"

PXL_20220926_185930998.jpg

After several long seconds of gaping at her in open mouthed shock (mirroring the expression on her own face, presumably because she said this out loud and in front of her grandchildren no less) we hooted with laughter for ten minutes straight, re-erupting after my son mouthed it at us an hour later XD

PXL_20220926_190424529.jpg

It seems Aunt Karen has been so-very-Karen for years, and my normally kind mama had reached her limit after a Karen-y critical text about my mom's twin...You don't mess with Aunt Joyce, apparently!

PXL_20220926_190356339.jpg

I suppose that should be obvious to me, but there just wasn't a circumstance in which someone was messing with my Eeyaa (pet name, long story) to make me aware of this before.

PXL_20220926_190348172.jpg

For some context- we have always been very close to our extended family on both sides, with a true unconditional love bond that supercedes even the most divisive issues; and while there has been bickering amongst the seniors from time to time, it always would end in someone cracking a joke that broke the tension.

I truly believe humor is the key to mending fences..of course people would need a good sense of it for that to work.

PXL_20220926_190656947.jpg

Okay, enough rambling dreemit, it's time to talk about the hive rep!

Does anyone else talk to themselves in the third person, or is it just me?

PXL_20220926_191747057-01.jpeg

So, 73! I remember years ago when @ophelia-fu reached 70 and I was in awe of her. While I quickly climbed through most of my 60's, at around 68 it began to progress much more slowly, and each point from there on was even slower still.

PXL_20220926_191811676.jpg

@meesterboom and @nonameslefttouse sprinted ahead of me- I mean, of course they did, they are the community recreation centers on this platform after all.. I met many of my favorite people inside those comment sections over the years!

But gradually I made my way to 70 and beyond. If I hadn't taken a long hiatus, I might be celebrating 75 right now, but then how could I share the day with mama? :0D

PXL_20220926_200619289.jpg

People have said that the rep has lost some of its meaning- something to do with paid vote bots I think- but not for me, I still feel it's an accomplishment worth commemorating. So thank you so much to everyone who lifted me up along the way!

It's just another reason why

HIVE ROCKS!!

That silly little number of mine would have been much higher, had I actually continued daily. That was such a Captain Obvious thing to say...

Congrats on 73, to both of you I guess. An intriguing number, if you look into it.

Good to see you're enjoying this whole platform thing again.

It certainly would, and even with your long stretches of silence I still can't hope to catch up to you XD

The 18 months I was gone from here, I didn't feel quite right. (Of course it was 2020 for half of that so not feeling quite right was a theme for us all, ha) But the moment I got back into this it was like a gear that had been stuck, sliding into place.

Really happy to have you back! For as long as you'll stay :)

Technically, I'll always be here. Sometimes I BRB or AFK. Running that show is a lot of work. And yes the societal vibes the past couple years; I felt out of place. Didn't want to play for any of the teams.

I equate this place in some ways to series that I love, there are certain characters that leave the show and it sucks, but I'll keep watching. There are those main few though that it wouldn't be worth watching without at least the promise of their return ;)

Yeah, just like in highschool my sports were cross country running and skiing, technically a part of teams, but really competing against myself :) Never did cliques either, I had my core crew of friends, but we mingled in every circle.

I was joking with some family awhile back, trying to explain how I'm like a pro wrestler but in writing and art. Remember when you wouldn't see the Hulkster for awhile then suddenly he pops out? Same thing but different. There is a method to my madness.

I enjoyed playing hockey growing up. I don't enjoy the social media news and politics scene. Seems like 9 out of 10 people have become products of that. Minds have become reflections of what's seen on a screen. Each player wants to be bigger and better; notable. So they start bending the truth, sensationalizing their thoughts for views and admiration. If I wanted to step in bullshit I'd just go feed the cows...

Those are accurate analogies! And it's a good method, you get to experienceYAY, he's here! Multiple times a year XD

Ugh, I know it. My views do not fit neatly into a box, so it's annoying when I express one and instantly someone labels me. Example: "Joe Biden has dementia" I'm accused of being in the Trump cult. Um, no, he's a clown and has nothing to do with my opinion of Joe's cognitive issues. That anyone worships these actors is beyond my understanding.

Do you remember my brother's song Ready? He was ahead of the times with it-

Maybe Alex Jones now being a billion in the hole will scare people into a state of constant honesty and integrity. Should have thought of that in the first place...

Of course, yes, me saying that could mean someone comes along and thinks I'm, on the other team. CNN bullshits the same way though. Fox, same thing. That little independent actor on Youtube, same thing. If you're in the business of delivering information, better have all your ducks in a row now that that billion is on the table and a case to refer to. Even that dipshit that threw all of us and the platform under the bus with his satantic fantasy should be looking at that billion dollars and thinking really hard about his future.

Yup. I remember that song.

Do you have the hive keychain? I ask because I wrote you this long response and it just kept loading from peakd because my keychain refused to budge off the red light. While I appreciate that it makes everything much more secure, it really has added extra work ever since I attached to it. I'm using it's actual browser right now, but sometimes it won't load that either.

Anyway, ha, yeah I've already seen posts with the headline "fake lawsuit for a shill" or some such thing. I suppose it's not out of the realm of possibility that Mr. Jones is paid to push his BS by the same people who pay for CNN and fox etc, but if that's the case then it's even more terrible. He's always rubbed me the wrong way and his voice is grating, that's all I know.

As for WTP, I hear he's a witness in Blurt now. Ha, if I hadn't already decided that place is going nowhere, that would have been my clue!

You're probably experiencing issues with API nodes. Both Keychain and Peakd have settings where that can be changed. I'm noticing a few hiccups as well but nothing I can't handle.

At the end of the day, regardless of where this news stuff is coming from, it's all the same to me. I don't see that imaginary line that somehow makes Alex Jones different from CNN talking head, even little guy Youtuber is the same in my eyes. It's not reporting events. It's steering minds and swaying opinions, but not even that anymore. It's just telling their market what they want to hear and how they want to hear it, so they keep coming back for more. Every single last one of them, including Joe Nobody blogger that latches on to whatever's fashionable in the news. It's all the same. I'm not talking about who's funding who. When you boil that down guess what? You discover the people are doing this to themselves. The people fund it. Society. As a whole. The entire operation. But you can't write that story because it doesn't appeal to anyone. Nobody wants to take the blame. That's why the market of blaming others is massive.

Beautifully said, not a flaw in that logic. I just read it out loud to Howie and he's like Damn, that's exactly right, who wrote that? He's been lamenting the absence of real reporting for years.

You know that it's really crazy out there when you hear this quote over and over "facts don't care about feelings" from people who are clearly swayed by their emotions on the topic. Even though the statement is true, they don't seem to fully understand it.

Suggesting people take personal responsibility for anything at this point is basically a hate crime. Victim mentality is its own pandemic. Which sucks since it is literally my biggest pet peeve.

Yeah it's a screwed up world but most of those feelings are ignited online while holding a device. Same damn place it always was when one shuts it off. Well, maybe a few trees died but that's not newsworthy, until you tack on a buzzword like climate change and blame someone, from your chair made of petrochemicals and mined resources located on the 23rd floor of that building that didn't just grow there, then beam it into several devices that all needed to be charged first. On the bright side at least an entire forest didn't have to be harvested in order to print books on the topic, like they did before, thinking nobody would notice. Then of course there's those conditioned to deny it but refuse to sit inside of their car while it's running inside the garage for an extended period of time with the doors closed because they know it'll kill them so just leave the door open and like magic that problem isn't a problem because smog is just fog and smells like roses.

Wait what were we talking about?

I seriously heard your comment in my son's voice XD I've become a fan of freestyling because of him. And he is very clear of mind, so the words he spits are magic, just like that. (Probably something to do with the fact that half the time he forgets he even has a phone, he definitely doesn't live in it.)

It's funny, my screennames have always been things like daydreamer247 or intheclouds or...dreemit, ha. I would never have thought that I would find myself so much more grounded than most! Nothing says the world is upside down quite like me being the voice of logic and reason, hahaha!

Congrats, happy birthday to your mom, and I think it's very cool you both turned 73.

So it seems you live near a place that I have been frequenting. I pass through Geneva, and parts south, quite regularly on my way to Owasco Lake.

Seems like just yesterday you reached 70. I'm creeping toward it, 1/100 of a rep point per post. It's grueling.

Thank you!

I do! I'm only twenty minutes from Geneva, we should meet up sometime! I also sometimes doordash there, it's not nearly as busy as Ithaca, but Hobart keeps the orders coming :)

It does seem like yesterday. And I know! It was like that for me too, actually the post just before this one is the only exception. I thought it would be the following post to hit 73, but that one blew up- and I'm not complaining about it, haha!

I'd love to meet up. You'd be my first Hivean in the flesh! owasco 8186 on discord. I'm running myself ragged at the moment with traveling, so I don't think I can meet until after the new year. But let's do!

Absolutely! And I hear that, it's been hectic for me too. It's a lot of fun to meet Hiveans!

I have problems trying to add friends on discord, so if you don't see me pop up I'm dreemit#8201

I hold out hope that one day you'll visit so I can take you on a wine tour (or two or three, we definitely have enough trails for that!)

Congrats to the both of you on those 73's! Your Mom looks like she's in great shape. That looked like a really fun day together. I had a couple like that with my Mom when I was in Ohio a few weeks ago.

Thank you Eric! She is. She just spent four days watching my brother's kids for him so he could take his wife to Arizona for their 10th anniversary...and the kids are 5 and 2 with boundless energy, so keeping up with them is a feat for a senior!

She is hard on herself for the weight she put on while taking care of my dad those last few years, so now she's bike riding again and hiking with her friend. Her mom lived to 92, and she was a sharp and spry lady almost to the end, so hopefully we still have a good 15-20 years of mama dreemit positivity. You've seriously never met anyone more upbeat in your life :)
