Two Hour Cyanotypes

As promised, I made a few new cyanotype tests in my Brownies. This time I aimed my cameras almost directly at the sun to get a silhouette of a tree against the rising sun.

I'm primarily trying to decide which camera to use for film. Unfortunately the clearest image comes out of the only camera without a film holder.

I set them out for 2 hours this time since they were facing the sun. I knew the direct uv would react better than indirect lighting.

Thanks to the f11 aperture even after 2 hours they were still quite underexposed. But wayyyy better than indirect lighting.

Two of them managed to catch the sun's track. Pretty cool to me. Now I have to take them somewhere to get a cooler silhouette than a tree. Of course I'll have to have two hours to watch them.

Awesome results, I'd say, kudos!
Have you tried Solargraphy? I guess you have a few extra sheets of photo paper somewhere and two cans of beer :D

The thrill here is really huge as the waiting time is really massive :D
Is it going to be a total loss or a master-piece? The result is known in months :)

I love these. I have some of that paper kicking around somewhere here, too, and now I'm inspired to try something with it.

Awesome! I haven't tried the pretreated paper, I wonder if it would yield better results. I used regular watercolor paper before and it scans very grainy, this time I used multimedia paper and I like the smoothness. The solar paper is pretty much a fine grain finish right? I'd like a sharper image and that might do it.

Yes, the solar paper is very fine grain. It ends up looking almost like monochrome watercolours.
