With the beach or without, it matters not. As you know the sea is right at your fingertips. There hasn't been a moment of regret, running away from home for such a long time. One cannot help but to listen to your soul, for it has been longing for the sea for a while. I don't need it to have palm trees and coconuts, I have a fondness for a sea that lives on in the winter, sometimes the very best kind of beach. Does your beach need to be warm and tropical or do you also long for the chill of the day settling down on your beach?

I even bought some vanilla - you know, the good kind. Pure ingredients, although I used to not know the difference, and now that I do, I cannot unknow it. So, be careful what you learn.

I already miss my cafe that serves me without asking what I want. I have become predictable, my very first cup of coffee of the day is almost the same. Perhaps I will mix it up once before I come home. Do you have the same coffee every day or do you make yourself different blends? I admit that once I have what I need, then I will have what I want for the second one.

Dinner that I don't have to cook, I have become lazy, although I am very grateful for everything that is done to make my time enjoyable. Could I live like this a little longer? I have to be honest, I might be able to live like this forever, that, plus my family has been with me so that just sweetens the time.

I never eat the dessert, but all of my waiters insist I should try it. I give in a try a forkful, but, I really don't enjoy it as I should. I call that wasting calories, so I save it for something worthy.

Perhaps go to the Irish Pub and find something. I raise my glass to all of you who have continued #MarketFriday in my absence. Everyone has been getting around a lot more and it really makes my heart happy to see that.

Oh, yes, the food is always legendary. :) That is a sweet jam-like sauce purposely put on the plate for decorative reasons.

I am truly enjoying the time away. The vacation was put together with many different legs and so many different ways to charge a person. Still, it has been fun being with my siblings on different legs of the adventure. :)

The views are stunning and so warm.
Yes the sea… it always draws me too. Whether it’s cold and icy or bath water warm like in the Caribbean. It is all sooooooo good 😎 hahaha 🤣
But in contrast the mountains and country side do pull me too. Don’t think I pick one over the other. It depends on the bigger picture 🤓

That is the absolute truth! You know how I love the mountains, but I am a cheating mistress! When you are not looking, I will be fawning over the mountains, if the sea isn't looking. 🤣

I do love the sea, especially when it calls me by name. I agree, the weather is incidental. It is the sea or beach that I want.

Aawwww yep… 1 year flew by so fast. We have been together over 6 years now, I met hubby in Spain.
We got married in Gibraltar, still with the pandemic we had not much choice and family couldn’t attend the ceremony or fly in.
I posted about it… Here… (rare to see photos of me hahaha)
and even made my own dried flower bouquet 💐 with the 6 dried roses in it I got for Valentine over the years, as back than we couldn’t ship them to the US with our potential move,… so I used them in my bouquet… although that didn’t go ahead as you know. You can see it Here…
I still have it 🥰
Don’t worry when you have no time to read or check them out. 😉🥰

How cool is that? Getting married in Gibraltar! Yes, we had a funeral in the family that couldn't be attended, the pandemic surely messed up the world.

We had a missionary bring some vanilla from Haiti one time when I was a kid. I remember being shocked at how strong it was. Very potent. I was talking to my dad this week while we were waiting for my mom to get done with her knee replacement surgery and it turns out he didn't go to Nassau in the Navy. I was wrong when I said that. I apologize.

The views are amazing! But, then, I love snow and winter too, the mountains, the trails... love the one you're with, yes? It makes life so much more pleasant - and tolerable.

Deserted tourist towns are a thing at my other house on the Eastern Shore of Virginia. It is all about the salt and sea, fishing boats, and watermen working the shellfish. It is also about the skipjacks.

Skipjacks are the last working boats under sail in the United States. In winter, fleets of skipjacks used to dredge oysters from the floor of Chesapeake Bay.

Custard slice heaven, beef looks perfect as well!

Vanilla we got when young was much more concentrated than the watered down mix of today, hope you grabbed a couple of bottles. Drop of vanilla into coffee also a treat with a twist!

Oh! I have never had coffee with vanilla in it! I will have to try that when I get home. God knows what I have been drinking here, but, it is delicious!

This picture of the beef was okay, but, I have much better pictures. However, I got a string of internet, so I was not getting fussy as I had to go one week without a post. I found it first, it was used. :) Sometimes, we have to take what we can get.

I have actually been gone since January 14th and will be going back home this weekend. I am enjoying the last of it... OMG... I will have to cook dinner once again.

Trying different tastes always fun, half coffee half chocolate drink together another change every so often. Half glass of fresh milk, scoop of vanilla ice-cream add a couple of drops vanilla, stir and enjoy during summer.

Tantalizing taste testers always find something one will enjoy, try figure out what you sipping on, will be fun to recreate when home.

Couple of months break from cooking is a holiday treat! Safe journey back with !LUV

I do so love the half-and-half coffee! Especially in the winter, sitting by a warm fire, Yummy on both counts. I have never heard of the second concoction, but, you know I will need to try it!

If I shared the weird and wonderful things we tried as children growing up you would roll on the floor laughing...

Drudge work, back into the kitchen daily, does become a chore when no one else cooks in a home, our lot in life I suppose. Bet the chef on board is a male, we did not think this all through when young..., that could have been us a long time ago !LOLZ

It has been pretty cool as there have been different legs to the journey and different siblings were involved, so it has been pretty amazing. There are so many of us and it is hard to get all together at one time, especially with work, obligations, and being geographically separated.

Thank you. The vanilla is actually really very affordable, then throw in the fact that it is pure, not the imitation that is frequently pawned off as being pure... It is downright cheap!

Unfortunately, sometimes the site doesn't pull them all up for me, depending on which front end is used. I have to search for them because people occasionally use photography or post in many of the others they could, tagging #MarketFriday 5 or even 6th. I don't understand that, but, it is one of the reasons, but, you are usually good about that, so it was a human error I am sure.

Hey there! This post really caught my attention. It's always refreshing to read about someone's experiences and thoughts, especially when they are shared in such an eloquent and heartfelt way. The author really captures the beauty and magic of the sea, and it made me feel like I was right there with them, listening to the waves and feeling the sand between my toes.

You're not home yet! I think this is the longest vacation that has ever been chronicled here and certainly so enjoyable that you will never forget it. To be reunited with your whole family like this... I never thought it possible. This was your idea?

Surely life this way, this "dolce far niente" (actually I don't know if it's really like that) is an extremely pleasant life and I think I would like it too. I just fear that at some point monotony might set in. I mean I don't think I would have lasted as long as you but I realize that the presence of family counted a lot.

Not yet, but I will be back in the US by the end of the weekend.

It has been a while, since January 14th. It was my idea and took a major plan to put it all together. Different ships, crossing cruise lines to meet up with other family members, ten different ports/locations/islands. It has been busy, and fun, and no time for monotony. One of the reasons none of us like to stay in one place for too long. For me, I can be in one place for weeks with good books, good food, engaging company, and some sort of cultural events. It has been nice because most like to slow roll through the islands, taking out time, so knowing this, it is easier to set up ships that will accommodate the things you like.

That fact and the fact that different members were on and two more would show up on the next leg made it interesting and different every week. I am sure you are right, the added family made it more fun, but, I honestly never get bored of traveling. I have been doing it for so long in my life that it feels more normal than being home. :) Although, you know how much I love home too. You know: Love the one you are with! :)

It's been fun and I already put in for another vacation in October.

what a beauty!!!!! very beautiful photos of the sea! they do have a lot of vanilla extract for sale. you intrigued me the difference in vanilla. I now think that I should be glad that I do not have the experience of comparing different manufacturers 😁 I completely agree - it's convenient to always have what you like at hand. I am also very conservative in eating and drinking: I have the same breakfast with slight variations and the same coffee 😀 it's great that you and your family have a wonderful holiday and delicious food. 😀

I am much the same with the same thing (almost) every morning. Especially the coffee. :) If I remember correctly, you do not drink coffee, but, tea. For the longest time, I drank tea, not coffee. Now I drink coffee and tea occasionally.

What you say is true. I never knew the difference between vanilla until I did. I accepted what we had as vanilla until I tasted the real thing. Had I not had that experience, I would have never known!

I would happily give up the food and fun, just to be with my family. 💙

Haha! True! If I am lazy or not, they will still feed me. :) It is one of the perks. It is nice at home now, so when I get back, the winter will be mostly gone. We haven't had snow in years, so it is just the cold that makes our winter.

Silence is golden

Yesterday I wanted to reply to your post, but I was out of battery and in the middle of a power cut that lasted a few hours. But well... My comment comes today. I had never thought about the colour of silence and I think you are right.
One day I sat looking at a sunset by the sea and it looked like this... very similar to your cover photo. Although the sea has sound, one concentrates so much on that magical moment. Then it is silence that accompanies, but strangely enough.... That day, when the sun finally dipped into the sea, I heard a sound like when you pour water on a fire. That was very impressive for me.
Maybe this is true... Maybe not at all. Anyway, that golden colour and those clouds are beautiful.

Take me to the beach! There used to be that longing for the sea and the beach but I don't know what happened. I should bring that kind of interest again. Cool cowboy guarding the vanilla shop :D The food looks good and the cake in the end yum!

I can remember that longing being pushed aside at a time in my life, although, the beach was far, far away at the time. There was no sense in longing for something that I couldn't have.

And then, it came back with a vengeance!

I didn't understand the cowboy at first, but, this was in Mexico, and called a Vaquero.

Vaqueros were proverbial cowboys—rough, hard-working mestizos who were hired by the criollo Caballeros to drive cattle between New Mexico and Mexico City, and later between Texas and Mexico City. The title, though denoting a separate social class, is similar to caballero, and is a mark of pride.

Ya. Pure vanilla would be imported items which are very expensive for most people. So, it’s only artificial vanilla in shops here.

The first photo is scenic and very relaxing. When I saw the dessert it made me think to grab a cuppa right away. haha. The food there looks good.

The first and the second photo is really beautiful. The sea really has its effect deep down in the core.
The light house photo is similar to the light house hotel here in our city. We have the same weather now here in my city, summer is already brewing. It is sunny all day.
I bet you really did collect a lot of happy memories while here Ms. Denise. What a wonderful and happy life indeed.
