The Punk I would love to see myself as would be Yusuf Bolton! I could see myself as this Punk using it as my PFP everywhere which is hard to say usually! What do I mean by that?
I've kept my eye on Punks on Hive as I pretty much started taking Hive/Blogging seriously around the time of its creation/mint but of course missed it by a couple days, as is my luck!
Loved the concept and idea behind it, wasn't surprised at all they sold out. Prices we're a little high due to hype of everybody wanting their own HivePunk me included, but I'm not the most wealthy individual out there, so I've had to hold off for the majority to find "my punk" in the crowd, priced adequately enough for me to afford him.
I did keep a few tabs on some Punks, always contemplating if I should spend x amount to obtain them before anyone else does, but I could never fully jump myself in for them prices sadly.
Then we got news of the double airdrop that was coming on the 6th of Jan, and I thought what a perfect oppertunity, I will cash some other investments out, swap to Hive, hold out for the airdrop then once thats all said and done, I can purchase a Punk finally! I then had my eye on a quite similar punk to Yusuf here for around 2 weeks, but of course before the 6th he had disappeared into another users wallet along with my hopes of finding a Punk I can visualize myself as.
Unfortunely since the airdrop has passed, I've used my Hive for other investments now or to provide some liquidity for pools, so a Hive Punk for me will have to wait a very long time unless I can find one I like as much as Yusuf here that I actually have a chance of obtaining. Who's wallet did he disappear to? I think they're at a point now where collecting is actually the main purpose of them. I've had a lot of discussions with people about what their utility is and some have expressed disappointment. I beg to differ. Punks are veblen goods. They're trophy items. They are valuable to those who see value in it. I can't bring myself to spend my ETH buying the originals, but I can easily get in on these. I don't need them to be anything more than weightless paper weights in my digital trophy cabinet!
I'm not sure, is there a way to see all Punks even those not listed?
I agree completely! I've been watching the NFT scene from the side-lines from the beginning (almost) at first I really couldn't wrap my head around NFT's, I had the same out-look as most of the negative anti-nfters now. But the more I stayed in that space the more I understood. I think it really clicked for me when BAYC was released and I could actually see a community forming around the project, the likeminded-ness between all who were involved and people truly became their avatars! I've watched brands form via these NFT's and its opened my eyes entirely, I wouldn't purchase an NFT I couldn't see myself as, couldn't see myself becoming, using everywhere possible! The NFT wouldn't need to be worth anything more than what it is to me, agreed completely!
Hoping more PFP NFT projects come to Hive, definitely opens up another avenue for little communities and groups to form!
We are working on one. One of the good things about running a front-end, is that we can make cosmetic value adds and also create value sinks for them. You know, like clubs, and what not with things you already see with BAYC and other clubby PFPs
That's amazing, I'm going to have to keep my eyes out for that would love to be apart of it! Keep up all the fantastic work you and the team do, Hives becoming a better place because of it! :D
