Buying my First Splinterlands NFT Card - Despise not Little Beginnings

"Despise not little beginnings" is one of the inspiring words from my mom's mouth each time he talks to me and sibling. She would always recount the early days of her marriage with Dad and how they started out quite little and small. With dedication, commitment, consistency, they built an empire that we came to enjoy.

Sometimes we spend time complaining about the things we do not have that we forget to maximize what we have. I didn't want to get caught in the web of excuses since I told myself its time to get serious again in Hive and show my testimonials like others are doing.

I started playing splinterlands game few days ago and did share my first battle experiences in this post. It tool some hours of dedication of reading several guides that helped me through the first set of battles. While perusing through the game, I discovered there are little I could do without buying a spellbook. I'm trying to save up $10 to do that as I earn from my Social media challenge posts. One of such is not being able to buy packs despite the big rewards associated with buying packs this Christmas season.

Today, I stepped out of the box and discovered that though I cannot buy packs, but I can buy single cards to build by deck for better battle outcomes. Thanks for Hive. We earn HIVE crypto and other tokens. I converted some of the tokens earned to buy SWAP.HIVE and used same to buy DEC tokens. I bought 75 DEC.

I transferred the 75 DEC bought from tribal dex to splinterlands wallet so I can start buying some cards. I didn't even check how much in dollars the 75 DEC was worth. See screenshot above. It was cool to have the purchasing power for the splinterlands in-game market. See link

My First Splinterlands Card Purchased

It's worth a celebration that I got my first NFT. It's a splinterlands NFT card. A battle card. With about 24 DEC, boom, I purchased my first NFT card. Here is the link

GARGOYA DEVIL is my first ever NFT on the splinterlands game. A rare neutral unit with some great statistics - 2 ranged attack, 1 armor, 2 speed and 3 hearts. The card also has a flying ability. Trust me, with all that characteristics, the card way cheap - $0.02.

Above is the screenshot of my collection showing my lone card worth 20 power. I heard someone just said others are buying cards worth $100. Yes, true, but, it's just the beginning for me. More would be added. Not forgetting my mother's advise and I won't despise it.

I now have a new addition with special characters for my battles. I would tell you how this pioneer card on my deck performs.
