EcoTrain Question Of The Week: What's The One Thing in life I'm Most Grateful For?

avatar

I'm most grateful for life itself, every other thing I'm thankful for revolves around this. In 1993, As a child, I suffered an illness that lasted for 12 years. A lot of people gave up on me, they believed I wasn't going to survive from it. I was told they traveled around states looking for medication, and at a point, they felt I was going to die but decided to have the faith that I might survive it. Today, I'm 28, sound, and healthy. When I look back at the years when I struggled to play with my peers, I thank God for this gift called "life" that I enjoy.

It's because of this life I breathe that makes me still relevant in the circuit to make plans for tomorrow. Wealth, family, luxury, power, basic human needs, and other needs mentioned in Abraham Maslow's hierarchy may no longer be important if we cease to exist. It's because we live that makes it possible to face tomorrow. During my industrial attachment in a general Hospital some years ago, I saw the vanity of wealth and other pride of life. People lied helplessly on the sick bed begging for life, at that point, they wouldn't mind if an opportunity was giving to them to exchange their affluence with life because it becomes obvious that life surpasses everything we may own.

1.𝙸 𝚌𝚊𝚗 𝚑𝚊𝚟𝚎 𝚊 𝚏𝚞𝚝𝚞𝚛𝚎: Only the alive think of tomorrow or set goals for the future. All these wouldn't matter if we are lying in a Hospital bed fighting to survive. It's because we live that the future is relevant, else, every one of our plans goes down with us to the grave where it never gains sunlight to grow. Myles Munroe said;

The richest place on earth is the graveyards because many people are buried with their potentials untapped.

We are still hoping, dreaming, planning, setting goals and objectives, it's because we enjoy that breathe called life.

2.𝙸 𝚑𝚊𝚟𝚎 𝚑𝚘𝚙𝚎 : There's a saying that goes: "where there's life, there's hope". It was because of this that the Bible said, "A living dog is better than a dead lion". Hope has its strength only when we are alive. I'm grateful because of this hope that I have.

3.𝙵𝚒𝚗𝚊𝚕𝚕𝚢, 𝙸 𝚌𝚊𝚗 𝚛𝚎𝚊𝚙 𝚝𝚑𝚎 𝚏𝚛𝚞𝚒𝚝 𝚘𝚏 𝚖𝚢 𝚕𝚊𝚋𝚘𝚛 𝚊𝚜 𝚠𝚎𝚕𝚕 𝚊𝚜 𝚊𝚙𝚙𝚛𝚎𝚌𝚒𝚊𝚝𝚎 𝚏𝚊𝚖𝚒𝚕𝚢: Yes, I have heard of people who worked but were not privileged to eat from it, they labored their entire life for someone to eat that which they have labored for. I have also heard of people whose dreams were shortened. Vibrant youths whom the family looked up to for a breakthrough. With life, it will enable me to eat from that which I have labored in and also serve to bless my family.

Health they say is wealth, and Life is Health. I'm most grateful that I'm privileged to be alive today and I give thanks to God who has made it possible.

Life is the most sacred thing there is and to cherish it after being hopeless, it must be a privilege to open your eyes every morning and breathe.

Yeah, the life we enjoy is a privilege. That joy that comes when you open your eyes every morning and realized you made it through the night
