Religious Violence

The concept of religion started by men and soon, there were different religions practiced by different groups of people. Each religion has their doctrines but they all see the opposite religion as an enemy and that's where the conflict begins. Religious Violence started a long time ago, the Israelites against other nations that worshiped other gods. kings who followed God broke down altars created by their worshippers and in some instances killed them. The major reason behind violence in any country is the difference in belief, and it's similar to the difference in the belief system in both religions. Nigeria has three major religions, the christian, Muslim, and traditional, they all have what they believe in, mostly contrary to what the others believe. Among members of each religion are fanatics, who take it to the extreme not minding their level of education.

Religious matters are sensitive issues, everyone tries to protect their belief at all cost and sometimes, to the point of causing harm to another. What we are taught in childhood remains with us. If we are taught to fight in order to protect this belief, we do so with the mindset of what we've learned to do from childhood. Whatever thing people do is a response of what they've learned or have been told while they were under learning. People fight for what they believe and this is the root behind religious Violence - fighting for their belief in others to protect it. If hatred was what they were taught, they grow up with such hatred and look for opportunities to vent it on their targets. The funny part is, the religious leaders don't involve themselves in this religious Violence, rather they mobilize the youth into it with their sugar coated tongues. Religious Violence is evil and wicked but until the foundation of it is fixed, which is the deceitful and false teachings and incorporated with the message of love and unity, little or nothing can be done.
