The Fight For Coffee

A new political leader has taken control of your country and it's starting to feel like a dictatorship. In his latest speech, the politician announced that coffee is now banned and will be considered contraband from here on out.

The Fight

It was 2026, four years later after the ban of coffee in Nigeria. The men who were once known to be vibrant and virile started to develop certain disorders, the economy of the country fell as foreign traders who invested much in buying coffee beans ceased. It became a reality to them how much coffee had boosted their immunity for the past years.

"We can't continue like this," Rowland, one of the prominent men in the city, said during a congress meeting.

"We've recorded more deaths in the space of three years" Dr. Richard commented "We need to fight, to put an end to this coffee ban else we'll all be dead in a short time" he added

Women living in that city were also affected, the rate of obesity was on the increase. A few women sneakily processed coffee in their closet but they weren't comfortable with it.

"This has to stop," Agmoore told the woman who had spilled coffee all over her chin.

"Seriously" she mumbled with some coffee still in her mouth. "I can't imagine myself staying a week without the taste of a coffee. They both laughed as they drank from the coffee cup peeping through the pane windows to avoid being caught.

Mr. Alfred, who was a painter, put all forms of paintings to signify the harm the ban has caused not just for the city but the citizens who were impacted negatively. One of the paintings drawn by him was of a man holding a coffee and denying a slim, ill-looking man a chance to drink from it even when it was boldly written on him that drinking coffee was his only chance of survival. The street took it up to make billboards and banners placing them on the street with COFFEE IS LIFE boldly written on them. #say-no-to-coffeeban became a trend on social media. The government knew the fight was never going to end, no logic to stop the protest worked, it was either they remove the ban or the country will suffer more harm.

Conferences were held where the benefits of coffee were discussed and little did they know that the new government knew nothing about coffee. "Today would mark the final decision I will make on this matter, get a coffee for me to taste, if I'm pleased with it, the ban will be removed or else it continues" he said standing on the podium as he addressed the people. He sipped the coffee, and took another sip, He grinned , then gulped the little left in the cup. "It tastes different," he said with a broad smile. A week later, the cultivation of coffee started again, this time more investors were ready to invest into it. The people resumed their activities with joy that the city would flourish once again.
