The Old Mill

From the image below I see water flowing from a channel and over a hedge, creating a waterfall effect. It seemed like a controlled water flow which may probably be part of an old mill. The surrounding looks like a village, I think it may be some kind of a mill where the channeled water has some function in a production process.

A small village in the remote part of Nigeria was a mill that relied on a flowing water channeled from a stream on the hills. Generation passed and the mill gradually became less essential. At that time, the white who had visited the land provided better machines that no longer needed the channeled water for the Mill to function properly.

However, the villagers still cherished the old Mill, not because it was more essential, but because it was once part of what brought life to the village. The villagers would often gather there sharing stories and enjoying the timeless beauty of the place. It became a place where aged men sat and shared stories to the younger generation to keep their history at heart. Every year the old Mill was renovated to keep the place alive despise the passing of time.
