India is not having bad social media influencers anymore

With social media getting involved in people's lives and making decisions at times for people, it was about time one government stepped up for its people. Some people have had self-image issues and problems from consuming too much of social media lies and deception from celebrities.

Even in the crypto-space, there have been instances of misinformation and rug pulls because of shady influencers. Granted, some of these influencers are pushing really dumb things like the DIY bath bomb beauty product made out of urine, but you can't trust the general public to make these decisions themselves, considering a huge part of this population are children, and they make dumb decisions as a lifestyle.

This is why the Indian government has decided to step in to make things clear. But I think the people who are not going to like this are those who use urine as a beauty product.

According to the guidelines put out by the Department of Consumer Affairs, every influencer has to make known what it is that they are promoting or else they will pay a $12,000 fine, which is unreasonably high and leads me to think they want it to be an unreasonable crime to commit. If the person does not adhere to the warning fine, and they continue to post more content, they are liable to a $61,600 fine.

Government officials also wanted to speak with some tech companies to make sure that they too have punishment for these influencers and make sure that they do not get as much traffic as they typically get.

I think this is a good idea, and other governments (especially the American Government) should learn from this. It is possible that some lives would have been saved if things were made clearer. Children who use these social media apps also need to be protected, particularly.

But how effective will it be? Won't people find new ways to promote without getting strikes from their government?
