Getting ready for the next phase of construction

I've had a big pile of rocks in the entrance to my house for almost a year, at that time there was no good trail for the horses to bring them in any farther.

To get over this obstacle, we had to build a bridge. We used bamboo and wire and with some clever hands got the job done.

Then we got some wheelbarrows and worked the rocks over to the other side of the farm. As we opened up the path, we thought how great it would be for the next round of materials to cross the farm on horse.

Luckily I have had lots of help, apart from creating some employment, I feel a part of a growing network of people who are willing to work hard and get things done.

It took two days, but we finally got all the rocks moved over - wow its a lot of material! Many of these rocks will form the foundation of our new kitchen/bathroom.

We are still forming the base and finding the stable subsoil, on which we can pour our concrete floor. Its been slow going, but everything is getting done in the right order, we are making progress!

I'll have more updates this week, tomorrow we have some repairs to do to the road, and thursday I have hired a mule team to help us bring up the rest of the materials, blocks, metal, sand and cement, from where the car stops up to the farm. The road is still about five blocks short of our farm, but we are closer than ever.
