I think a quiz sounds like a great idea. I stack gold and silver and think it should be part of every portfolio, but depending on your risk tolerance. It is a good store of wealth but you will miss out on massive compound returns if you have too high a %.

Finding a good reputable dealer is probably the best thing to do when starting to stack.

Re: metals/physical stacking, I would do it if I had spare funds, lol, but I don't. With all the instability in the world and the markets, I think it's a good idea to at least stack some, but it's a pricey thing to get started in.
What ever happened to the silver gold people minting blockchain coins? I know they did back on the old chain but I've never seen it happen since Hive.

Short week this time

I could almost copy and paste what I said last week, this week I have been just buying good tokens on leo dex that folks are selling for less than they are worth.

Other than that a very quiet week

As for silver and gold I sold mine a few years back when they were way up and have not got back into either as of yet.

My ground rule is to have 5% of my wealth in gold, and over the past 10 years I was able to add a good amount of precious metal to my reserve in form of 24k coins, as these are easy to trade in Europe, and they come VAT free.

This is my reserve for very very bad situations, and my hope is that I will never need to sell anything from it, and that one day I will hand it over to my children/ (although I have no kids at the moment - and should work on this 😊)

I don't stack physical precious metals or jewelry. Maybe it's because of the premium but I prefer to go trade the a stock on the stock market instead. For silver, I would go for a silver mining company.

Hi all, I had a really great HP income week and have hit my annual target of 2500 HP now, which is awesome. The really low price of HIVE helped, and now I'm aiming for 3000 HP by the end of the year as a stretch target. I also bought a few more EDS - I cant ignore that APY/APR !!! I've never invested in precious metals, however I have an interest in the price of gold and always check it, as it does help you to understand whats going on in other markets. And I love watching gold rush !!! The price of gold is too high currently for me to invest in it, I'd want to see if closer to the $1200 mark, but that wont happen for some time with all the problems in the world at the moment. People tend to head into gold when things are unstable, and thats why the price is high at the moment.

Concerning precious metals, the resale tax is quite high in my country (11.5%), which makes it a long term investment with hope of a strong increase.
Jewelry is less taxed (6.5%) and only if the value exceeds €5000, but it is difficult to get a reasonable price considering the purchase price.

I do not stack any silver or gold. I am more into tech despite gold and silver is probably great during the current times.

As a side comment: I noticed a mistake in the table tracking the goals. My goal is definitely to reach 500 HP as I'm long ahead of this, but to add a certain amount of HIVE to my savings account every week. Hope to get this corrected :)

For this week's quiz.... I haven't bought any gold or silver yet, but they are the next thing I'll be adding to my portfolio. I'm still at the research stage, so while I've reached some conclusions, there's still a lot more I need to learn and I can't rule out that I've misunderstood some things so far !

The way I see metals is that gold is probably best to stack, mainly to take advantage of the quirk in current UK VAT rules which make investing in bullion VAT-free, while for silver you pay 20% VAT on every transaction which usually can't be reclaimed when you sell it. Premiums on silver also appear a bit higher than on gold.

When I do get some gold, I see it being split between two forms;

1. Gold bars as a store of wealth. A long term investment because it'll take time for any price increases to absorb the premium.
2. Gold coins as a last-ditch reserve if SHTF and I have to leave the country in a hurry or survive total economic collapse.

Something I'd avoid is companies who hold gold on your behalf (and even more so those that cook up some crypto gold/e-gold equivalent, however well they claim to secure it against tangible metal). It may seem convenient and reduce the need to invest in security, but when the tanks are on the street and the economy is collapsing like a house of cards, how likely is your gold to still be in a vault you've never seen, even if you can get there ? To mutilate a phrase we all use a lot; "not your gaff, not your gold".

I love precious metals as an investment mode and they are one of the best antidotes to inflation. I will not give much advice because I am not a specialist in the matter but I think you have to have a small part of the portfolio for them.
This was the week of the change where I want to focus on building up HP. These Hive prices are too tempting to pass up.

As to this week's contest, currently I don't have anything invested into precious metals, or much of a jewelery collection either. I have, however, always been interested in collecting coins so maybe I could start looking into that more in the future! I wouldn't mind investing into precious metals, I would just need to do some research first to understand what I'm getting myself into!

Investing in precious metals is something that I have never considered before but is something that is common in my parent's generation. What they have previously told me is that it is something that steadily grows over the years.

Something that caught me is that, where should I store the gold? It might become a logistical issue if I need to find a secure place to store it.
