Classroom of the Elite. Season 3. [My Opinion]

The winter season of the anime series has just ended and with it the 3rd season of Yōkoso Jitsuryoku Shijō Shugi no Kyōshitsu e also known as Classroom of the Elite concludes. Once again our protagonists continue their attempts to make it to A class, but this time from a slightly better position, as in previous seasons they managed to move from D to C class.

Suzune Horikita continues to do her best to keep the class together and is aided by the undercover genius Kiyotaka Ayanokoji. On the other hand, our protagonists continue to deal with the ballast of Rokusuke Kōenji who contributes almost nothing to the exams and only acts in self-serving convenience. We also have the presence of double agent Kikyō Kushida who fortunately has been a little quieter thanks to the blackmail he made to our protagonist and through which he receives monthly payment to not act.

Recién finalizó la temporada de invierno de las series anime y con ella concluye la 3.ª temporada de Yōkoso Jitsuryoku Shijō Shugi no Kyōshitsu e también conocida como Classroom of the Elite. Una vez más nuestros protagonistas continúan con sus intentos de llegar a la clase A, pero esta vez desde una posición un poco mejor, ya que en temporadas anteriores lograron pasar de la clase D a la C.

Suzune Horikita sigue haciendo todo lo posible por mantener unida a la clase y cuenta con la ayuda del genio encubierto Kiyotaka Ayanokoji. Por otra parte, nuestros protagonistas siguen lidiando con el lastre de Rokusuke Kōenji el cual no aporta casi nada en los exámenes y solo actúa en conveniencia propia. También contamos con la presencia de doble agente Kikyō Kushida que por suerte ha estado un poco más tranquila gracias al chantaje que le hizo a nuestro protagonista y mediante el cual recibe mensualmente u pago para que no actúe.

To top it all off, a formidable enemy appears who, while not new to the series, puts Ayanokoji in the crosshairs this season. And yes, I'm referring to Arisu Sakayanagi, a seemingly charming loli who in truth is a genius almost on the level of Ayanokoji. And I say almost because there is definitely no one who can stand up to our protagonist. This new enemy has known the protagonist since he was a child and knows that he comes from the White Room (laboratory where they experimented on genius children) and using her wiles she manages to convince one of the new class C to try to expel Ayanokoji together. To continue telling would already be too much spoiler, but well, if they achieved their purpose the series would end so imagine the result of those plans 😉.

On the other hand, the characters continue their daily lives overcoming the trials imposed on them by both school and life, as some affective relationships ended and others started. Regarding this aspect, I'm glad they put a little more emphasis on personal relationships, as previous seasons focused so much on academics that many characters seemed devoid of a personal life.

Por si fuera poco aparece un formidable enemigo que si bien no es nueva en la serie, en esta temporada pone a Ayanokoji en la mira. Y sí, me refiero a Arisu Sakayanagi, una aparentemente encantadora loli que en verdad es un genio casi al nivel de Ayanokoji. Y digo casi porque definitivamente a nuestro prota no hay quien le haga frente. Esta nueva enemiga conoce al protagonista desde pequeño y sabe que proviene del White Room (laboratorio donde experimentaban con niños genios) y haciendo usos de sus artimañas logra convencer a uno de la nueva clase C para juntos tratar de expulsar a Ayanokoji. Seguir contando ya sería mucho espóiler, pero bueno, si lograran su propósito la serie acabaría así que imagínense el resultado de esos planes 😉.

Por otra parte, los personajes continúan su vida diaria superando las pruebas que le imponen tanto la escuela como la vida, ya que algunas relaciones afectivas terminaron y otras iniciaron. Respecto a este aspecto, me alegra que hicieran un poco más de hincapié en las relaciones personales, pues en temporadas anteriores se centraron tanto en el tema académico que muchos personajes parecían carentes de vida personal.

As for the drawing section, I don't have much to say, since my non-expert point of view was not able to detect a significant improvement in terms of character and scenery design. And I'm not saying it's bad, it's just that I didn't see a relevant change, although I do appreciate that they didn't use unprofessional techniques such as not drawing the characters' faces in the background. God, I hate that, they look like mannequins.

On the other hand, about the script, I must say that I didn't have high hopes with the story, based on the experience that the second season brought me, in which in more than one occasion they adapted 266 pages of the manga in a single chapter. This in my opinion can be very bad, as it risks damaging the students' experience and understanding of the competitions. But I must say that the last few chapters of the season I really enjoyed. I felt like they were rethought and a drastic change was seen. This takes on some logic when after doing some research and seeing that this season's chapters were written and directed by different people each. [1]

En cuanto al apartado de dibujo, no tengo mucho que decir, ya que mi punto de vista no experto no fue capaz de detectar una mejoría significativa en cuanto a diseño de personajes y escenario. Y no estoy diciendo que sea malo, es solo que no vi un cambio relevante, aunque sí agradezco que no utilizaran técnicas poco profesionales como la de no dibujar las caras de los personajes de fondo. Dios, como odio eso, parecen maniquíes.

Por otra parte, sobre el guion, debo decir que no tenía muchas esperanzas con la historia, basándome en la experiencia que me trajo la segunda temporada, en la cual en más de una ocasión adaptaron 266 páginas del manga en un solo capítulo. Esto en mi opinión puede ser muy malo, ya que se corre el riesgo de dañar la experiencia y comprensión de las competiciones de los alumnos. Pero debo decir que los últimos capítulos de la temporada me gustaron muchísimo. Sentí como si estuvieran repensados y se vio un cambio drástico. Esto toma algo de lógica cuando luego de investigar un poco y ver que los capítulos de esta temporada fueron escritos y dirigidos por diferentes personas cada uno. [1]

Overall, I think that if you already watched the 1st and 2nd seasons, it makes sense to watch the third season, as it very unpredictably laid the groundwork for what will be the beginning of the real struggle of Ayanokoji. I say very out of prognosis because the previous seasons felt a bit slow, but this 3rd season kicked off a story arc worthy of watching in season 4.

En general, creo que si ya viste la 1.ª y 2.ª temporada, lo lógico es que veas la tercera, ya que muy fuera de pronóstico sentó las bases para lo que será el inicio de la verdadera lucha de Ayanokoji. Digo muy fuera de pronóstico porque las temporadas anteriores las sentí un poco lentas, pero esta 3.ª temporada dio inicio a un arco argumental digno de ver en la 4.ª.
