Today I want to share with you a tutorial for making a hanging daisy ornament using pumpkin seeds, pistachio shells, and other recycled materials. Although I would have liked to say that this craft is made 100% with recycled materials, the truth is that, due to the lack of yellow paint, I had to use foam. But well, to not feel bad about myself, let's say it's 95% recycled materials.

Hoy quiero compartir con ustedes un tutorial para hacer un adorno colgante de margaritas utilizando semillas de calabaza, cáscaras de pistacho y otros materiales reciclados. Step by step // Paso a paso

1️⃣ To start, we mark and cut out a circle on the cardboard using a circular object that we have at hand and is the desired size. Then, using another smaller object, we mark and cut out an inner circle to obtain a ring.

1️⃣ Para empezar, marcamos y recortamos un círculo en el cartón haciendo uso de algún objeto circular que tengamos a mano y sea del tamaño deseado. Luego, haciendo uso de otro objeto más pequeño, marcamos y recortamos un círculo interior para obtener un aro.

2️⃣ Using the ruler and the circular cutter, cut out thin strips of paper to glue around the cardboard ring. Once the ring is covered, paint it white.

2️⃣ Haciendo uso de la regla y el cúter circular, recortaremos tiras finas de papel para pegarlas alrededor del aro de cartón. Una vez el aro este cubierto lo pintaremos de blanco.

3️⃣ While the hoop dries, cut the bottle corks into slices. We will make a diagonal cut on one side of the slices to pass the thread through. 3️⃣ Mientras el aro se seca, cortaremos en rodajas los corchos de botellas. A las rodajas le haremos un corte en diagonal en una de sus caras para pasar por ahí el hilo. Adicionalmente, a cada rodaja le haremos una muesca por todo el borde. También es necesario recortar las puntas de las semillas de calabaza antes de empezar a armar las flores.

6️⃣ Once we have the 2 pistachio flowers and the 10 seed flowers ready, we paint them white on both sides. In the case of the pistachio flowers, if you do not use quick-drying paint, you must wait a while before painting the other side, otherwise it will be difficult to dry them.

6️⃣ Una vez tengamos listas las 2 flores de pistacho y las 10 flores de semillas las pintamos de blanco por ambas caras. En el caso de las flores de pistacho, si no utilizan pintura de secado rápido deben esperar un tiempo antes de pintar la otra cara, de lo contrario les será difícil ponerlas a secar.

7️⃣ For the center of the daisies, it would be ideal to have yellow paint, but in the absence of it, we will cut out four large circles and twenty small ones in a yellow fomi sheet. After cutting out the circles, we glue them on one of the sides of the flowers. In the case of the large ones it can be any side, but in the case of the small ones it has to be the side opposite to the one with the diagonal cut.

7️⃣ Para el centro de las margaritas lo ideal sería contar con pintura amarilla, pero en ausencia de este recortaremos cuatro círculos grandes y veinte pequeños en una lámina de fomi amarillo. Luego de recortar los círculos, los pegamos en una de las caras de las flores. En el caso de las grandes puede ser cualquier cara, pero en el de las pequeñas tiene que ser el lado opuesto a la que tiene el corte den diagonal.

8️⃣ With the hoop dry and the flowers ready, we proceed to assemble the decoration. We start by cutting 5 strands of thread, which we will tie at one end. We will pass four of the strands through some holes that we will open on the opposite side of the cardboard ring, leaving the fifth free in the middle. After attaching the strands to the cardboard, we begin to place the flowers. The order of the flowers I chose to put two small ones on each of the four sides and in the center two small and two large ones interspersed.

8️⃣ Con el aro seco y las flores listas pasamos a montar el adorno. Empezamos cortando 5 hebras de hilo, las cuales ataremos por uno de sus extremos. De las hebras pasaremos cuatro por unos orificios que abriremos en lado opuesto del aro de cartón, quedando la quinta libre en el medio. Luego de fijar las hebras al cartón empezamos a colocar las flores. El orden de las flores escogí poner dos pequeñas en cada uno de los cuatro lados y en el centro dos pequeñas y dos grandes intercaladas.
